If you have any questions about Steam regarding how a specific thing works or where something involved with Steam is located, please post them here. First of all, to get this Information Bank started, I will answer a commonly asked question. Q: What is the Steam Cloud, what does it do, and why must it be synchronised? A: The Steam Cloud is what allows you to view and talk to your friends while in game. When you click Shift+Tab it brings up an in-game overlay which includes things like the Steam community, your friends list, and recent players. Without the Steam Cloud synchronised you won't be able to view any of this. That is why sometimes you can play the game, but you cannot view your friends list. The Steam Cloud is then being either updated, or it isn't synchronised. Finally, for all questions on how to synchronise the cloud, it should do it by itself. If it isn't synchronising, just give it time, and it eventually will.

Yeah, so I can't start it. Every time I try, it says "Steam cannot connect to the internet" blah blah blah. I've tried on multiple computers, and I just downloaded it on my reformatted computer, and I'm getting that error. I just don't get it. I can play all of my other games on the internet (CoH, BFBC2) but I just can't get steam to start. Help! I wanna make Friday Night Fight Night!

Hey there! You should start with ensuring that both files pldecal.wad and tempdecal.wad are read only, and delete custom.hpk. Also in the console there is a command to switch sprays on and off, but for the life of me I can't remember the command. I'm sure one of our veteran members or even an enthusiastic pubber could help you. Bye!

.. That's probably the point. Maybe you're video card is fried man, I know every now and then mine will say "Your video card has stopped responding but has recovered" Maybe yours isn't recovering, which is why TS still works

So, I really don't know how to fix this, if you haven't fixed it yet. But I can give you an educated guess! 1 - The lag problem - Make sure you close all programs you arent using before starting DoD (Example - Limewire, MSN, Internet Browsers, Security Programs <AVG, Norton, Etc> and basically all programs that connect to the internet. I used to have mad lag problems and then when I close AVG security it would fix it and my ping would go back to the regular 80.) 2 - Your driver problem - If you mean like sound drivers and video drivers, make sure you know the make and model of your card, and go on the website of it and they have all of the driver updates there. If you have an Nvidia video card all you need to do is go to the website and do you driver scan. It will find the model of your driver and all updates for it, as well as the most recent version compared to your version. This might be available on other driver website as well. (ATI and stuff like that)

Hey man, make sure you definately sync your files with the steam cloud! The steam cloud is what enables you to shift+tab and bring up friends, community, etc... If you've ever wondered why steam friends is down or something, it's because an update is being done for the cloud, or your files aren't synced. You don't need to sync if you don't want to, but it's just so much more convenient to have all of this stuff ready at your fingertips. I hope this helped! Also, about your question on why it isn't working, I really can't help you there. My files synced perfectly. All I can say is try again tomorrow, and if I find out what the problem is, I'll be sure to let you know! **Edit.. I just found out that the steam community servers were, and possibly are still down. I'm not on right now so I couldn't tell you, but this is probably why you can't sync, because of maintenance.

You may have had problems downloading and installing something in those maps, corrupting them, and so you're graphics card puts more and more effort into running it perfectly that it overloads and shuts down. I've never seen your computer so I couldn't really tell you, I'm just spitballing here. It would be easier if I knew all your specs.
