Lets see what everyone's speeds are:
-
Very true concerning heat. Heat is the number 1 enemy to all electronics and can adversely affect performance.

If he has Win7 like he said, good luck even running the OS on 1GB of ram. Win7 uses around 600-800MB of ram on idle.

Source games such as DODS are more CPU dependent than GPU. OP stated a 2.5gig processor, so im assuming 2.5GHz single core, which isn't that great along with a not so great mobile GPU thus IMHO I would say you wouldn't have very high FPS. All of your graphical settings are to their lowest level correct? There is also a way to force rendering of DX8 instead of DX9 so that may help as well. Also as Jasko stated the reason you get more FPS in the private is because of less people in there, which is easier on the computer to process. There is also another start up command where you can set the heap-size higher if you have enough ram. meaning you will dedicate more RAM to the game when it starts than the default amount.

oh ok. Just trying to get a feel for what it would be about if it would be something I would be into. Cause iv been playing COH since 2007 and know the basics. But yea overall sounds like a cool idea.
-
is this just something where you teach new guys how to play?
-
What will happen at this COH MOS and how will it even be taught?

Iv never used the 8700M-GT card before, but if you just purchased a laptop recently and it has that in it you got seriously screwed because that is 3 generations old. That 8700 is not going to be a gamer card, and if it is a single core processor I wouldn't expect much more than the FPS your getting now unless possibly if you had all setting turned to their lowest.

ouch...I would think not. makes me sick just watching it happen...I can only imagine if it happened to me... =(
-
haha. made me laugh.

Day of Defeat Source/CSS error with Windows 7 64 bit
Greco replied to Vandagriff 1st MRB's question in Closed Tickets
no that is not a firewall issue. This is a software issue. Seems like it could be your graphics card drivers. See if you can get an older driver version. The easiest way it to completely uninstall all drivers from the add/remove programs area, then use the driver disk that came with your graphics card and install those ONLY for now. Try that. Also forgot, google CCleaner and download that. Its free. Use it after the uninstall of the video drivers, then restart and install the drivers from the disk only. When you go to use it you can do the regular cleanup, but make sure you also go to the registry tab and do that as well. -

Did you do a full clean install when going to Win7 x64 or was it an upgrade? Also if you have an anti-virus run a full system scan. Also go into your games tab in steam, right click on DODS and go to local files and see how much fragmentation is sais is there. -
