Easily one of the best recent indie games to come out. Limbo is both disturbing and captivating. I haven't played it yet, but Ars LOVES this game. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/07...on-august-2.ars

Love it. No longer bored at work.

Because you paid for it years ago and its now free, you got cheated.

It honestly sounds like either multiple firewalls, AV, Anti-Malware, or you have a bad router or modem.

They haven't given anything away yet. And NWN2 was a huge let-down. NWN was awesome.

Say what you will about this game, but at free, this is a kickass game. Download it if you don't have it. If you shelled out money for it, you've been upgraded to the premium level. Is any game developer better than Valve? I say no.

Yep. Stock 327 with the chrome treatment. I'm still working on making it perfect, but that's a bit of a chore. Unless I just go hog wild and drop a ZZ383 in it. 425 horsepower/460 ft.lbs of torque.

I'm a bit of a car guy. I'll have to dig up my picture of my '65 El Camino. Its in one of the other forums for sure.

Pull the trigger on this. If you have less than 4 GB of RAM (and have a 64-bit OS), this is the deal for you. Its far faster RAM than the usual DDR3-1066. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231314 Sorry Canada, its Newegg US. But, there is a 15% code to use, to bring it down to $55. $65 - 15% off code DM15JN11US = $55.24 with free shipping. You would have to do it today, because this won't last.

Sooo, I need help.

Do you have an external hd attached? Remove it and see if that is the cause. There is some piece of software that is conflicting with your uTorrent for access to the internet. It could be your AV, firewall, or something else. One biggie from a while ago is Intel's Application Accelerator. Any chance you have it installed? Uninstall it and see if that works. But you may end up with having to kill some programs. Finally, you may have some malware. Try downloading Malwarebytes, run a scan, see what happens. -
R. Wells [No Sound]

Asus Xonar has got the best bang for the buck right now. Around $30 for great sound. Here is 11 pages of audio card review. I never knew I needed to know 10 of it. But, it at least gives you some pretty graphs to look at. http://techreport.com/articles.x/19997 And here is the card I recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...2-020-_-Product $24.99 after the rebate. -
Ban Request :: Ezee Target

He came back. I then informed him that because we had warned him about the porn spray, it would have to result in a timeout for him. I banned him 1 day. I do not know if he came back after the ban expired. -
Who is this? Is this a bot? Looking forward to getting you back.

My New Graphics Card
Dillon 1st MRB replied to Griswold's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Download ccleaner. I am willing ot bet you have some old nvidia stuff in there that is messing things up for you. you can find it at Majorgeeks.com. Then, you are going to want to check your options in game. Set your resolution to your monitors default (1440x900). Crank up your AA, AF, turn on HDR.... all the bells and whistles. It should look loads better. Lastly.... 1440x900 is kind of a low resolution. And DODS is hardly a demanding game. Check out a DX11 game and you should see an amazing difference. I would look into getting a new monitor before long. A good 1920x1080 monitor will be amazing with that card. -
Not entirely sure. Do you have any funny errors in your firewall? What type of firewall are you using?

Dying Computer, Need New Computer
Dillon 1st MRB replied to Legend's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
I have a hard time recommending even the top end of nvidia right now. Here is a summary from one of the more respected review sites: Nvidia has been price gouging on their top end. In absolute performance, they edge out AMD by very few percentage points, at a resolution of 2560x1600, its 1 fps. It just doesn't justify the $200 increase in price. From a price : performance position, AMD has better products right now. We'll see what the next generation brings. -

I'm not going to link, but I've put together an entire build except for a keyboard and mouse. I personally find that those are way too important of a decision for someone else to pick for you. Find what you like, and get it. Also, Legend expressed 0 interest in overclocking, so I adjusted things accordingly. Mobo - MSI P67A-G43 (B3) ATX Intel Motherboard - $129.99 (+ a $10 rebate) CPU - Intel Core i5-2500 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor - $209.99 GPU - XFX Radeon HD 6950 HD-695X-ZNFC Video Card with Eyefinity - $239.99 ( + a $30 rebate) - its just a better deal than anything I can find from nvidia right now. Bang for the buck winner. RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory - $79.99 Storage option #1 (highly recommended) SSD - OCZ Vertex 3 VTX3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - $269.99 HD - Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - $79.99 Option #2 HD - Western Digital Caviar Black WD2002FAEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - $149.99 Monitor - Asus VE248H 24" Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/Speakers - $199.99 (1920x1080) PSU - Thermaltake TR2 W0379RU 500W Power Supply - $59.99 Case - LIAN LI Lancool PC-K57 Black Computer Case - $69.99 (Legend says no frills, here it is, but still quality) Here is why option #1 is what I recommend. An SSD, to be worthwhile as a main drive, has to be of sufficient size. You listed 5 games that you play. This drive, at 120 GB, will hold your applications, games, and OS. Now then. You will want to put movies, music, infrequently accessed programes on the second drive, to keep space free. It does require a bit more thought into how your store your date. However, it reads and writes at over 500 MB/sec. This will give you incredibly fast boots, level loads, copies, etc. However, if you don't want the hassle, go with a 2 GB Caviar Black. Its a bit spendy, but people really can't get by with 1 TB of total storage any more. Total price? $1339.91 And as a new user of Newegg, you'll get free shipping. -
Dying Computer, Need New Computer
Dillon 1st MRB replied to Legend's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
I haven't heard that anywhere but would love to learn more. Any idea where you heard it? It may influence some of the tech boards I'm on. Umm... what? Its out. And SSD's (solid state drives) are taking advantage of it big time. They are also coming down in price so much, that it may very well be within the average gamer's price range. I don't understand this at all. Why wouldn't you look at at AMD? They had vastly superior products during many product cycles and have, until recently, better image quality. This cycle they have a slightly better product in terms of performance, heat, and power draw. People will marginalize the heat and power draw, but they really matter when you are upgrading. Its the difference between a new PSU and being fine with what you have. They just don't spend the money on advertising that nvidia does. Check them out. They are always worth considering. Definately compare the two brands at the price point you are at. Often, nvidia will have a great product.... at $300, $350, and $450; whereas AMD may have the better option at $150, $200, and $250. And for what its worth, I'm not die hard for either of them. I buy the best card at my price point. When I bought my card, I was ready to pull the trigger on an AMD 6870. However, on the strength of reviews, I saw what a factory overclocked GTX 460 (clocked from 675mhz up to 850!) would yield in performance, and it was worth it. Here is a brief history of my gpu buying: 3dfx, 3dfx, 3dfx, ati 8500pro, ati 9700pro, 9800 pro, nvidia 6800GT, 9800pro, nvidia 9600GT, ATI 4850, nvidia 285 GTX (won this), ATI 5770, nvidia 460 1GB. Brand loyatly can be nice, but it will short-change you. -

Well, if its for movies, he'll definately want the IPS panel I linked to. There are adapters out ther, but the sucess on them is marginal. As for the resolution, you would potrait the monitors, to maximize your verticle and your horizontal view. Check the link here, scroll down, and check out 3 24" IPS panels. COD looks amazing, even in landscape view. Personally, I'd go potrait on them. http://techreport.com/articles.x/18756 -

Dying Computer, Need New Computer
Dillon 1st MRB replied to Legend's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
ATI pioneered the 1 card pushing 3 monitors on the 5xxx-series. Nvidia still needs two cards to do 3 monitors, which is expensive. As for the monitors, that one won't work. They must have a Display Port. ATI will use HDMI, DVI, or a Display Port to push three monitors. But, to push 3 monitors, it must use the Display Port. The HP I listed has all three. And the only time I would recommend a 19" monitor is if he's going with 3 screens. With 3 screens, the real estate really won't matter. That's an enormous desktop. Essentially, a 1440x2700 resolution.
