Is this resolved? If not: If you're running wireless try plugging in a cable, disable your wireless card on the computer, and see if it still happens. I had this happen on my wireless card. Unfortunately getting a new one didn't fix it, nor did getting a new motherboard (upgrade, not troubleshooting). Probably something on my router but I'm wired in for now.

New higher end video card - $449.99 (allegedly)
Nathan replied to Dillon 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
I agree with Goodwin, I like ATI on principle but I've found that Nvidias always seem smoother. And now that ATI pulled this jacked up naming scheme scam, I'm switching back. Now the real question: If my (crappy) 4670 is doing ok at low-medium settings, do I spend my money on a new card or an ASUS Transformer Prime? -

If this isn't solved yet: I don't fully understand what you're seeing, can you screenshot it or give a little more info? Thanks! -

You might also check that the chipset drivers for the laptop are up to date. What model of laptop is it? -
I'm pretty sure you that's a quote straight from the addict handbook. No one likes to hear this and fewer people even listen to it but you should really find something else to relieve your stress. Exercise is (mostly) free and gives you more energy. And you'll feel better about yourself too, especially if there's some kind of race coming up that you can work towards. Financially, a can of dip a week is ~$5? So that's $260 a year. That's a lot of beer money! I smoked for about four years, quitting was a real bitch. There's never a good time to stop, and there's never a good reason to start.

Can you be the Sith in this one?

Ok, I reread and realized the second quote is clearly my favorite, but I think the first one is a very interesting truth about people.

I'd have to side with Pang. It's a nice speech but it's very naive. America does more good than anyone gives it credit for, doesn't mean we can do whatever bad we want but it does mean we're not devils if we do make a poor choice. And the IVAW guy is mad about the war, that's fine but i disagree with him about there being any element of racism. There are plenty of good reasons to be against the Iraq war (in my opinion) but I don't agree with his at all. At least the first minute, I couldn't really sit through any more of that. Hell my arguments against the war are financial, gain vs expense. I think we had something in Afg but we lost it when we started focusing on Iraq. And now we're a trillion in, not accounting for what will be spent for the next 60 years on the people maimed in the war. What do we have to show for our investment? What would we get if we don't pull out besides another trillion in debt? There are plenty of good reasons to go to war. Humans don't all want good for each other. That's just not human nature. And when someone rises to power by taking it from others, they'll do it on the global stage too. And they have to be stopped to keep us all free. My favorite line from the Declaration of Independence is "Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed." Followed by: "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." And it's the same with war. It should never be enjoined lightly, but when it is clear that it must happen, men must stand up and fight. America!

Colt AR15 with a Solid red reticule scope. Backup: Full frame .357; though a 1911 works well here too.

I hate Starbuck's coffee because they brew it into acid. But their Yukon blend is fantastic if you buy it whole bean and do the rest yourself. Downside = it's only available in Canada. I buy two pounds every time I'm up there. Canada FTW. I drink it black.

Fastfood Burger - Smashburger, any time I travel I try to find one for lunch. Guacamole and fresh jalapeno slices (not pickled) on a burger = best burger ever. Definitely get the fries. Burrito - Freebird, fantastic little place I first ate at in Austin, but I think they are expanding. Hotel: Kimpton Hotels used to offer a great mil discount and have fantastic restaurants in them. But they don't have a lot of rooms for government rate anymore so you have to book early out. Always in downtown, in many major cities.

I'm a few days into a trial and looking at playing it for a while. Anyone else into it?

Either it won't pass or somewhere along the line it will get struck down as unconstitutional. I mean, you're going to try and sue Google for not censoring their search results? I pity the fool.

Tricky Spyware - You should use Outpost
Nathan posted a question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
I had something kind of like this Bundes Polizei Ukash Ransom Virus hit me this weekend. AV 2012, said it was expired and I had to buy, took center stage on my screen and could not be moved or collapsed. It also tried to inhibit Task Manager. I could bring it up but only for a few seconds at a time. But I was still able to find the process and end it. My lifesaver here was Outpost Security Suite, a fantastic firewall program that I highly recommend you install. After you install it, one thing it will do is prevent programs from taking over your screen and will ask you about programs. At first it may seem annoying but once you tell it that a program is ok it will never ask you again. So after the initial setup it is awesome. It totally would have prevented me getting this little malware but I wasn't paying attention and told it this was ok. I thought the program trying to run was an Avast update . In retrospect I'd already told Outpost that Avast was ok so I shouldn't have done that again. Tricky malware. I used to hate independent firewall programs because they were so unintelligible and hard to set up. But this one is great. It's a great compliment to any antivirus program. BEST NEWS = totally free! Outpost Security Suite Free If you have any questions or trouble with the setup just PM me or post it here. -
New Wireless Card/USB
Nathan replied to Nathan's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Ok so last night was definitely better than before but i was pissed because the card was such a pain in the ass to install. I forgot that after i reset my router, the IP Flood Detection has to be turned off. Did that this morning when i realized a multi part download wasn't working properly. SO I'll see how it goes. Also quick note: I blew $130 plus on my modem/router combo, Motorola SBG6580. It sucks, I should have read reviews but i figured going to local BestBuy and laying down some cash would work out. Do not buy this modem/router, it's pretty bad from most accounts. Hence things like the auto enabled IP Flood Detection will stall anything if you have more than one incoming signal (so gaming, IMing, Email, Download, BitTorrent entirely shuts down). Anyways, PSA. -
New Wireless Card/USB
Nathan replied to Nathan's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Got the new card. Better and I'm happy to have N but not solved. Reset router to original factory settings and that seemed to help a little. limited my FPS in dods and that helped a little. But check out my packet loss above. Anything above 0 is bad and I was at 60. Second Round: Even worse. My roommate tested it and was getting even same numbers. But on a different website he got zero loss and any time either of us do cmd prompt pings they all come up fine. Is it ISP or Modem? Modem is combo modem/router, pretty new. Motorola SBG6580 I think. So tired of this -
New Wireless Card/USB
Nathan replied to Nathan's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
I've tried everything including updating drivers and tweaking settings. Since no other computer in my house is having trouble it's gotta be the card. Hell it never was great anyways . I got a new router/modem 6 months back and it should be screaming. So i ordered this one. Rosewill Card Hopefully with this I'll be on n and killing people even better than before. Will give an update when it comes in. Anyone fix-up crappy wireless cards and want to pay shipping ? -

New Wireless Card/USB
Nathan replied to Nathan's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Yes, same conditions. I got on the Private today for a realism and had decent ping. Then no kidding as soon as the first round was called live it shot up to 800. It seems to be some kind of pulse type occurence, thats why we dont see it in those tests. My cousin can play on his laptop with no ping problems. I'm going to try reseating the card, blowing everything off, and reloading the drivers/firmware to the device. Hopefully one of those three will fix it . I'll let you know in the morning. -

I'd love to string the wire out but I think my dogs will end up ripping the card out of the computer or the router off the shelf. Thanks for the help with this! -
I've had my comp hardwired to the router all summer. Now I've moved it back to the same place it was but my ping is going up to 500ms, and maybe getting as low as 200. Nothing else has changed. And it's a really cheap card I have anyways. So here's a hardware item i don't deal with often. Anybody have suggestions for a card, or usb i suppose? I'm looking for something less than $25. I don't know what makes one better than another for ping, which is my main concern. All suggestions are appreciated. Also this is why you haven't seen me in the server PS - The router is pretty darn new and all my laptops work fine off of it. If only they could play at more than 2 FPS...
