Resolved - System power issue?
Lafy BAR replied to Pandalsson 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Could we get more details about the noise it made? Was it a beeping noise coming from a speaker inside the computer, or was it some sort of fan or drive noise? A jammed fan could cause a severe heat issue resulting in the system halting to prevent damage. An extremely noisy hard drive could prevent boot up, but you'd see an error on the screen about it. The speaker inside the system beeping in some crazy way would indicate an issue with your video, ram or cpu... the specifics of how it beeped indicate which one. Some motherboards have status lights on the board that indicate which parts have booted properly which can tell you what failed. The fact that it came on and did stuff, and that holding the power button turned it off suggests to me that it isn't a problem with the power supply (unless that noise came from the fan in the power supply....) -
It looks like there's a chance it would decapitate you if you got in a car accident....

I do not understand why flip-flopping is such a big issue to Americans. Changing your mind about a subject is evidence that you're open to thinking about things and being persuaded. You hit the nail on the head when you said that he was acting in his business' best interests. The expectations of a business man and those of a president are quite different. A comparison might be the difference between being an random citizen and a judge. The first can have any opinions they like, the second is required to be impartial. That doesn't mean that anyone who has ever been opinionated isn't qualified to be a good judge.

Like a power interruption. The bios update options only work on a fresh boot before windows has loaded, so no virus scanner worries The link I provided has instructions. I've updated dozens of bioses and never had a problem, but one of my friends powered off his PC somehow while updating and had to have his bios chip removed from the board (with a soldering iron), reflashed, and soldered back on.... it was a nightmare. So don't turn the machine off during the process. -

If that is your motherboard, the manual may be useful to you or the medical supply technicians. EVGA 790i Ultra SLI Manual -

Does your motherboard look like this? If so, this is the bios update for your board http://www.evga.com/support/download/showd...ber=132-CK-NF79 P10 only adds CPU support, so if you're running P9 I wouldn't bother updating the bios (it should tell your your bios version before you give it the go ahead to install the new bios. If you're running anything older than P9 then an update to P10 could help, but it's hard to know since EVGA isn't showing the change log for older bioses. ================================================================= As with all bios updates, use extreme caution during the update, an interruption can brick your board. ================================================================= -

What brand is the motherboard? The model you listed is only the chipset not the specific motherboard. -
I assume by "switch between hard drives" you mean boot the old copy of windows that is installed on the other drive. Since you've said this is from your old computer, windows is going to need to have all the drivers reinstalled. Do you know how to do that? Does the old drive have the same version of windows as the new computer? If not the newer hardware may not be supported by an older version of windows. As long as you use the boot settings built into windows you shouldn't have any problem getting back online if you have issues setting it up. Please read them carefully before proceeding. Keep in mind that where he typed "Vista", that's the name of the 2nd windows install, so you could put "crappy old drive" or anything you want. Also, the big long string of random looking characters will be specific to your system, don't copy and paste the example he's showing. Here are some Instructions on how to set it up.
