I would buy a small private island somewhere in Europe, arrange for weekly grocery delivery and a high-speed internet link to the mainland. I'd build a small modern house on the island, buy a sailboat and learn to sail. And those of you I like are invited to visit.

You should not edit your config.cfg and set it to read-only. If you are adding custom config elements put them into a file named autoexec.cfg file and the game will run it. What key are you binding to medic? Can you provide the exact steps you are trying that are failing?

Resolved - Graphics Card Problem
Lafy BAR replied to Griswold's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Is that how the graphics bug usually looks in other games too? I would call that smearing. It actually looks like the video game doesn't use a clear on every frame and is failing to complete the entire render.... very odd. -

try taking a screen shot of the issue. if the artifacts show up in the screen shot then it's not your monitor or cabling or anything like that. -

Resolved - setting up my computer
Lafy BAR replied to Gearhart 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Just open the device manager and see if you have an unknown device and no network adapter. If that's what you find then all you need is a driver. Depends what sort of network card or motherboard you have what driver you'll need. -
Resolved - setting up my computer
Lafy BAR replied to Gearhart 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
You could be missing the driver for your network card, alternatively it sounds like you had some severe issues with your installation, you may not have the network subsystem entirely installed. If you check device manager and there are unknown devices and no network card listed, then get a network card driver. Otherwise I would suggest that you find proper installation media for your product key and try starting over. -
Resolved - Help Peaker Build a new Computer!
Lafy BAR replied to Peaker's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
I would spend the extra few bucks on windows pro, i've had random weird problems with home editions of windows oh, also i heard the crucial SSDs are more reliable, and i don't see a dvd or bluray drive. -

Here's some random stuff that should turn into a raging beast.... http://secure.newegg.ca/WishList/PublicWis...Number=15436214 I'm sure a bunch of people will tell me that i chose all the wrong parts, or at least that I've gone crazy on the CPU... which I did. If you need a monitor and peripherals I didn't take that into account. You may want to switch out the CPU/Motherboard for a 2700k and a motherboard compatible with that to save a couple hundred bucks, it'll knock down the cpu's capability a fair bit, but i'm sure you don't actually need that much anyway. Might be smart to run SLI with a 2700k instead, but if you do that make sure you swap out the power supply, that one isn't high enough wattage for 2 video cards. -

Resolved - CPU Over Temperature Error
Lafy BAR replied to Legend's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
It's very odd for a stock speed sandybridge CPU to overheat like that.... Once you figure out what temperature your CPU is running idle, and under load (during a game) you might want to try something like this http://www.neowin.net/forum/blog/460/entry...ck-coolerspeed/ Edit, I should say that if the idle temperature is strangely high then you have a serious issue and should not just try to bandaid it. -

American Megetrends? -
You're actually in town during Luminato, it's an arts festival thingy. http://www.luminato.com/ I would disagree about the best burger in the city, personally I would send you to Burgershoppe on Ossington. Their Queen street locations aren't as good anymore. Other places I like to eat are House on Parliament for up scale pub food, Terroni for Italian (though there's usually a wait, the place is always packed), The Marché at Yonge and Front is good for a meal, it's in the same building as the hockey hall of fame if that's your sort of thing.

Resolved - CPU Over Temperature Error
Lafy BAR replied to Legend's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
What did the error message look like? It could have been your bios locking the machine to prevent hardware damage. You may want to check if there's a setting in the bios for a max CPU temperature and maybe install speedfan or some other temp monitor and see what temp your CPU runs at while gaming. If the temp your games run at is close to the max your motherboard will allow you can either increase the max allowed, if you're confident the CPU is rated for a higher temperature, or improve your cooling. Are you using a stock or aftermarket cooler? Are you overclocking? Does your case have sufficient airflow? -
Resolved-Lost my E drive, issues starting up
Lafy BAR replied to evo-lution ßÄЯ's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Have you checked in computer management to see if the drive is still there? What is the exact model of motherboard you have? Revision 1 P67 based motherboards have a design flaw that causes the SATA controller (hard drive controller) to cease functioning
