  1. Name:Geremias (5 años) Steam I.D:STEAM_0:0:36675505 Reasons for the Ban:TKing Recommended duration of ban:Month Demo Provided?: N; pubbers asked me to come in, but he left soon as I did. Quick search of name shows two previous bans for tking (LINKY); recommend a month for this time.
  2. no read for you. rainbow cat hop cat
  3. It is still not over....
  4. Can't believe I missed my own nuclear power plant one : )
  5. One of the blast doors from the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain complex. Roughly 25tons, they are located 1/3 of a mile within the mountain. The blast doors to the BigRIPS accelerator in Tokyo. That link there is essentially the user manual to the beam factory; a slightly-less technical explanation is here. The blast door for Culham Centre for Fusion Energy in Oxfordshire. Post more if you know of 'em! I came across the NORAD picture while researching and decided to see what others I could find, and having visited the site in Tokyo, trust me when I say these pictures do not do their immense size and sense of weight justice.
  6. Big thanks to all who posted adorable sweet things, semi-thanks to those mephitic ones!
  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HALLS, on what is obviously the greatest day to be born. In celebration, have some cute foxes:
  8. Thanks all! Even though here, I still have an hour and a half until my birthday (and since I was born in Cali, technically 4.5 hours), I greatly appreciate it : ) and goddammit Roussel...
  9. CAT APPROVED! OFFICIAL BROWN BIRTHDAY CAT THREAD HAS BEGUN. POST CATS.
  10. First off, not nearly enough cats. Second, this is just YTMND in youtube format. Third, NOT NEARLY ENOUGH GODDAMN CATS. Fourth, Gearhart actually finally said something I agree with. Holy balls. Sixth, fuck numerical order.
  11. Name:mygot guy/namechanger Steam I.D:STEAM_0:0:63525274 Reasons for the Ban:tking/name-changescript Recommended duration of ban:perm Demo Provided?: N; Mullaney present. Tried to get him a few times, but he'd leave before I could.
  12. Can you compare it to red wedding in game of thrones? Not really. I think we all knew Hank would die, just not when. The red wedding came as a complete shock, at least to those who haven't read the books (or it did when they were reading the books).
  13. HOLY. FUCKING. BALLS. ON. A. MOUNTAIN. That episode was seriously the best television I've seen in the past 20 years. I am simultaneously super excited to see how this all culminates while wishing I could postpone the ending for a few more years. Just holy shit. That shit just made the Emmy's absolutely asinine for any other show; BB is winning them all. EVERYONE, all the way to goddamn Flynn, acted their asses off. We don't have to do spoiler tags in this post right? This post is for everyone who is caught up? IF NOT , SPOILERS AHEAD. SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS. EMMY RIGHT HERE, JUST FOR THIS SCENE: AND ALL OF THIS: How it started with Walt's first lie to her and did that weird fade to the present...perfect. The naming of the episode was TOO PERFECT. UGH. Seriously best TV I've probably ever seen.
  14. Oh my fucking god, these kids need to just be on every show that ever existed.
  15. Takel just got him for a week, which might be good enough, but if not because of this:link, I'd love to request a month. I've had TONS of problems with him before, and as you can see, 2 bans so far. He LOVES to tk for weapons...and just tk in general.
  16. Parker got him (link)
  17. I can honestly say that I never imagined I would be jealous of a ukulele collection, but here we are... Which is your favorite?
  18. Well that puts a little more faith in humanity for me : ) I couldn't be bothered trying to navigate that site to figure out where they got their numbers. Thanks!
  19. So a friend posted the following image: on their FB, and I HATE these types of things because they are more often than not completely false. I decided to test this particular image. Feel free to check my math; I'd rather be corrected than be putting more inaccurate information out there, and that is one reason why I'm posting this. I'm also posting this for the younger members of our unit to encourage critical thinking in this day and age of the technologically-assisted rapid spread of information. Just because it is made into a picture and posted on a site that calls itself Unbelievable Facts does NOT make it true. The following was my response: Sorry, not true. Proof: Due to the relative unknown actual area of the Milky Way, I'll be using the diameters of each object instead and converting all to miles. The diameter of the Sun is 864,300 miles; the diameter of the Milky Way is 100-120 thousand light years (or ~646,600,000,000,000,000 miles). The most common white blood cell in the human body is a neutrophil, with a diameter of ~11 μm (or 0.000000006835 miles), and the diameter of the U.S. is 2198 miles. So for this to be true, if Sun/x = cell, then Milky Way/x = US. Solving the first for x: 864,300/x = 0.000000006835 x = 1.26452×10^14 (126,452,000,000,000) Solving the second for x: 646,600,000,000,000,000/x = 2198 x = ~294,176,524,110,000 That's a difference of 167,724,524,110,000. In reality, if the Sun was scaled down to the size of a white blood cell, then the Milky Way would be 5113.40 miles long, not 2,198 miles. It would be a little larger than the size of Venus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I also had to explain why it did not matter whether the image meant area or circumference; since I used the constant of the diameter for each object, the end result showing the statement to be false would exist no matter what that constant was intended to be. Again, if anyone notices any errors, please let me know. I'm sure there are some members of this unit more fluent in mathematics and/or astronomy than me; I majored in English and Computer Science. Question everything.
  20. Just to clarify, I am not posting this to joke, but to point out the absurdity that has manifested out of the tragedy. While it is not necessarily a bad thing (subjectively of course), it is something I've seen a lot of today, and I wrote a FB post about it that got a bit of hate mail and a few de-friends. I don't think this is the proper place to post it, so if you have my FB, you can read it there. Otherwise, I salute those who died trying to save the innocent, and I honor their memory by reminding myself why they died, and what they died for. That is different, I think, for every person today, but for me, it means that I can sit here and write this, I can criticize my government, I can experience a degree of freedom that is unprecedented in human history, and it is all because of others who have fought and died for this country and the belief in the right for each and every one of us to live.
  21. Unfortunately, another by-product of Cast's leaving was that she checked birthdays every day, so no one else ever got used to doing so. Happy Bday though! (you fuckers better remember mine; in 10 days, 19th...I expect sloths and/or foxes at my door)
  22. どうもありがとうございました
