It was taken last summer, not too far from a bus stop. It's National Park Land and doesn't have evidence of logging (fires, yes), with several 3-400 year old Douglas-firs and a rich, multi-layered canopy of western hemlock and vine maple. Oxalis and low Oregon-grape cover the ground, with Pacific Sword ferns filling in the gaps. Large standing dead trees (snags) and large dead trees on the ground create habitat for palliated woodpeckers and many other types of critters.
