Name: Smith (or L/Cpl. K. Smith [1st SAS])
Steam I.D:
Date & Time of ban: 6/22/13 at roughly 1:30 P.M. Eastern Standard Time
Admin who banned you: 1st Lt. Hall
Excuse for the Unban: I was banned for the really generic "breaking server rules" type of reasoning. Was a rule specified? Of course not, because I didn't break any.
If anything, I think this has to do with the apparent vendetta I've been notified of after I talked to some of my higher-ups about the situation. They did not seem surprised, and have told me many of them have been banned in the past. I don't know what the deal is, but if their assumptions are correct, then I must say this is pretty childish and I hope you'd agree. The game is dying if you haven't noticed, so refusing to play with other units (especially about skill level) is not going to help anything. In fact, it is rather asinine.
I would never ban anybody from your unit for doing good in our server. I was going about 34/4, give or take a few kills, playing as sniper on a map I'd never played before. None of the other pubbers on my team or theirs were upset with me for performing well. It wasn't until I killed 1st Lt. Hall on a couple of occasions that things took a wrong turn. He was in a window, shooting through a crack between the window ledge and a cabinet I believe he moved, or perhaps it was a teammate.
Either way, I missed my initial shot (something a hacker normally doesn't do), and he responded by diving to the ground. I thought he may be moving position to the next floor, until I noticed he started sliding over the cabinet and made a crack to shoot from on the other side. He got up, I killed him, and then he goes to spectate. Since I've played DoD:S for five years, I know exactly what this means. I remarked, "Come on Hall, don't be that way." He said there's nothing to worry about if I had nothing to hide, which is absolutely correct.
I continue doing well for the next few minutes until the map changed to dod_avalanche where I would go 1-4 only to get banned. This is pretty ridiculous. Only on one other server realism unit server has something like this occurred to me, and unfortunately I cannot recall which one. It may have been the 101st back in the day. Anyways, I was politely asked by an admin if I could tone it down as to not scare away pubbers, and I complied by going to rifleman, a class I am not nearly as good with.
If you bothered to read all this, thank you. If not, tl;dr is that you guys should stop having a vendetta, or make it much more clear with a warning or two if you'd like a player to tone it down for the time being. That request is equally ridiculous, mind you, asking somebody to stop performing their best and intentionally do worse. But that is preferred over getting banned.
Sincerely,
Smith
