I haven't posted about Star Citizen in some time, but I gotta bring it back. They just updated and overhauled their ship spec page. "DISCLAIMER: These are our current specifications on paper. Some of this is likely to change during the 3D design and game balancing process over the next 24 months. Despite this, they should give a good indication of the relative features and abilities of the ships in the Star Citizen universe." https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ship-specs When I first wrote about this game, they had raised $14 million. They're up to $44 million right now. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals

Good job guys. Keep in mind if you're taking a webcomic that is written and illustrated from someone else, you need to provide credit to that person(s). The comic used in the WW2 Joke section is written and illustrated by Johnathon Grey Carter and Cory Rydell, and is called Critical Miss. It's hosted on The Escapist -
What a piece of sensationalist bullshit. Instead of laying out a possible scenario, they just say "HEY, LOOK THIS COULD'VE HAPPENED!" Without anything to back it up. Oh, Mr. John Chuckman, an ex-oil CEO thinks it could've happened? Well, my neighbor the canary salesman says the post office is going to do a lot better next year. It's like saying any other country in the world shot it down, it's like saying aliens came down and zapped it, it's like saying a T-fucking-Rex materialized on a cloud and chomped it apart. There's absolutely nothing to this and I hate that it has any attention at all. This is sub-CNN coverage, and that's saying something.

Game of Thrones discussion (Spoilers)

George Martin comments on Jaime Lannister's rape scene: "I think the “butterfly effect” that I have spoken of so often was at work here. In the novels, Jaime is not present at Joffrey’s death, and indeed, Cersei has been fearful that he is dead himself, that she has lost both the son and the father/ lover/ brother. And then suddenly Jaime is there before her. Maimed and changed, but Jaime nonetheless. Though the time and place is wildly inappropriate and Cersei is fearful of discovery, she is as hungry for him as he is for her. The whole dynamic is different in the show, where Jaime has been back for weeks at the least, maybe longer, and he and Cersei have been in each other’s company on numerous occasions, often quarreling. The setting is the same, but neither character is in the same place as in the books, which may be why Dan & David played the sept out differently. But that’s just my surmise; we never discussed this scene, to the best of my recollection. Also, I was writing the scene from Jaime’s POV, so the reader is inside his head, hearing his thoughts. On the TV show, the camera is necessarily external. You don’t know what anyone is thinking or feeling, just what they are saying and doing. If the show had retained some of Cersei’s dialogue from the books, it might have left a somewhat different impression — but that dialogue was very much shaped by the circumstances of the books, delivered by a woman who is seeing her lover again for the first time after a long while apart during which she feared he was dead. I am not sure it would have worked with the new timeline. That’s really all I can say on this issue. The scene was always intended to be disturbing… but I do regret if it has disturbed people for the wrong reasons." via Time -

They've changed his storyline quite a bit from the books, which is somewhat concerning. In the book, Jaime was not present for Joffrey's death. He and Brienne were still traveling to King's Landing. When they arrived in King's Landing, Loras Tyrell (who joined the Kingsguard) wants to kill Brienne, as he believes she murdered Renly Baratheon. Jaime intervenes, and has Brienne arrested so she will not be killed. He then goes to the Sept (church) to see Cersei. There, it's a similar scene to the one from the show. She's mourning Joffrey, and they fuck in front of the corpse. But it was consensual, there was no rape. After that, their relationship is pretty much done. I seem to remember Jaime was rather uncomfortable with how the sex went down, and is rather dismayed by Cersei's accusations against Tyrion. It's odd in the show, I'm not sure I agree with the direction but with how heavily Martin's involved I still think they're moving along the way he intends it. It just messes up a lot of the situations I personally interpreted differently. -

Game of Thrones discussion (Spoilers)
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Gardiner 1st MRB's topic in Mess Hall
Yes, they are pulling from later books, which is to be expected. If they played by George Martin's original writing, they'd have long gaps of no information from a lot of fan favorite characters. Not an ideal setup. But, episode 2's screenplay was written by Martin himself so I tend to trust he knows what he is doing with the material. Now for some spoilers. What's a spoiler thread without some spoilers? The culprit of the death of Joffrey is never explicitly said in the books, but you pick up on it when reading. If you want to know who killed Joffrey, rewatch the episode with a keen eye. They do show you whodunit. Pay close attention to the necklace Sansa received from Ser Dontos the Fool. It has seven points with seven gems, representing the seven Gods from the southern religion. You'll notice the Queen of Thorns (grandmother Tyrell {Olenna Tyrell}) talk to Sansa at the beginning of the wedding reception. Her hands flit down to "play" with Sansa's hair and the necklace around Sansa's neck. Any scenes after that one, you'll notice the far-right point is missing its gem. How odd. Later, when the giant pie breaks the awkward "kneel" scene with Joffrey and Tyrion, notice that Joffrey hands his cup to Margaery, who puts it down right in front of the Queen of Thorns. Right after when Joffrey resumes his torture of Tyrion, he makes Tyrion get the cup from the table. Shortly thereafter, Joffrey chokes and dies. If you think it odd Joffrey would choke on the rock, remember a certain red woman who made an incantation promising the deaths of four false kings. Renly died by Stannis' shade, Robb Stark by the Lannisters, Freys, and Boltons, Balon Greyjoy by a fall, and now Joffrey by choking. -

The Hound and Arya are in the Riverlands, which are not technically part of the North. The Hound's plan is to take Arya to the Vale, which is in the east, the capital of which is the Eyrie. The Riverlands were run by the Tullys, who joined the King of the North. This map might help: The Red Wedding occurred in the Twins, which is owned by the Freys. He was such an important piece as he would've allowed the Starks to reconnect and reinforce the constantly-under-siege Tullys. The desolation at the end of the episode was caused by the Lannister men, and you can bet the Mountain was an integral part of that scorched earth. But he should be heading south to King's Landing for an important task soon. The Hound and Arya, on the other hand, are moving south along the road from The Twins. Saltpans (while not shown on the map) is the crossroads where the Trident connects to the sea, and will be a big event for Arya. -

My family is big on dogs. We're kinda a bunch of softies, and whenever we get a dog with a sob story we assimilate him/her into the pack. Currently, the pack consists of 10 dogs, as follows: Archibald (Archie) the rescued Papillon: Cozette (Cozy) the mega-Pomeranian: Maya the derpy-Austrailian Shephard: Shiba, named for the queen of Sheba, last of the Yorkshire Terriers we used to breed (we didn't dock her tail, which is common for Yorkies): Raiden and Zoey, Belgian Malinois and the mutt. I'm not convinced the mutt doesn't have some hyena in her, she's an annoying dog: Waldi (dachshund), once inches from death, now oblivious to danger: Laika the wise Golden/Husky (we did investigate it, and this was the closest we could get), aged at least 16 years old (this is an older picture): Barnabus (Barney) the idiot-dachshund: Penny the glutton, eats too much. No, they are not using the same engine. Skyrim uses the Creation Engine, which was created from the Havok engine specifically for use with Skyrim. When they announced ESO, people thought they would use the Hero Engine (used in Star Wars: The Old Republic), as Zenimax purchased that engine and licensed it. Instead Zenimax, in Zenimax fashion, made a new custom graphics engine for only ESO. It's important to note that while both of these games have the same publisher, Bethesda, they do not have the same developer. So no, they are not two of the same game. They are exceedingly different games in many different ways, from graphics to UI to quests to lore. Zenimax hasn't quite kept in canon with the rest of the Elder Scrolls games, but that's to be expected. It's an MMO, so there are inherent differences in how MMOs work. Much of the content is PVP related, with a guild experience, matchmaking, the potential for seige warfare, and much more. There's still PVE content that you wouldn't get from a single player game, in the form of endgame "raids" or even earlier group quests. While Zenimax attempted to get a somewhat similar feel to Skyrim in the form of combat, there are stilll significant differences. To shorten a essay that I can continue writing, it's an MMO. That's what it boils down to. If you haven't played a game with a persistent world in the way that MMOs create it's a difficult experience to explain. But they are very different games with some similar ideas behind them.
