Resolved - New build
Woz 1st MRB replied to Willow 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Was planning on touching this during my lunchbreak, but it has been a busy day. I'll see if I can get a list together. Do you have any major hardware prefrences (AMD vs nVidia, AMD vs. Intel) or any other preferences in any of the other components? -
No DBZ? That shit was the reason I learned how to program a scheduled VCR recording back when I was in elementary school.

I have looked into this before. Unfortunately, of the thousands of commands for DOD:S, none of them can disable automatically switching your weapon when you pick up a new primary, like you can do in Counter Strike. Sorry Marking as resolved.

Resolved - Need Upgrade Recommendations
Woz 1st MRB replied to Candy 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Just to add to Hansen's links, here is one from LTT on the topic: All that being said, the Xeon e3-1231v3 is matched very closely with the i7-4770 performance wise (much like the Xeon e3-1276v3 is to the i7-4790) , is cheaper, and only sacrifices integrated graphics (which you don't need anyways) and the ability to overclock (not sure if that was important to you). -
Resolved - Need Upgrade Recommendations
Woz 1st MRB replied to Candy 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
I just recently put those exact two parts in my brother's computer and it has been running well. I have also used MSI for the motherboard in many other builds with no issues. As far as CPU performance increase, here is a good ballpark of how much of an increase you can expect to see: i5-2500k - 6456 passmark score e3-1231 - 9614 passmark score and for reference: i7-4770 - 9840 passmark score The i7-4770 is about 60 dollars more, if you want an idea of how close in price they are. -
Usually I wouldn't want a machine that large sitting on my precious desk space. But for that case, I can make an exception.

Resolved - Need Upgrade Recommendations
Woz 1st MRB replied to Candy 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Honestly, that build doesn't need anything more than a new CPU (and consequently a new mobo since yours won't be compatible with most of the ones I would pick for you) Here is what I recommend: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($242.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($88.99 @ SuperBiiz) Total: $331.98 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-01-07 12:47 EST-0500 These are really good options for the price you pay, and sit right in the sweetspot of performance per dollar. Other than that, in my opinion, further upgrades would be overkill without a specific need for them. If you feel like burning some money and going for a beasly 4k rig you could get a second 970 and SLI it, as well as buy a new monitor to go with it. If you go that route, we will need to pick a different mobo to get SLI capabilities. -

Were you ever able to get into Vent by having an admin reset your Vent password?

I have edited your post to follow the MSO Helpdesk Form. I am also marking it as resolved and closing it.

Resolved - Issue with game launch
Woz 1st MRB replied to Lystad 1st MRB's question in Closed Tickets
You are running Skyrim without any mods, correct? Edit: In the mean time, could you also try running the game in compatibility mode? Right-click the Skyrim Launcher exe and click properties... Then go to the compatibility tab. You'll see "Run in compatibility mode." Check it and select your system. If that doesn't work and you are on something besides Windows 7, try selecting Windows 7 from the drop down. I know this feels like taking shots in the dark, but it is the best we can do when the program only gives such a simple error message... :/ -
You most likely entered the wrong/no password. Speak with one of the higher ranking members of the unit to have it reset for you if you cannot remember it.

Resolved - Issue with game launch
Woz 1st MRB replied to Lystad 1st MRB's question in Closed Tickets
I tried it! I did what you said but the steam restarted it self up and the game crashed like always! Disable the Steam Overlay on specific games only by right-clicking on the game title, click on "Properties" and uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game" in the "General" tab. Try this option and let me know. -
Resolved - Building a new computer.
Woz 1st MRB replied to Boutton 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
If you have a Full Size ATX Case, and at least a 500 Watt Power Supply, these parts would fit into your budget range comfortably, and would leave room to purchase a keyboard, a mouse, a new hard drive (SSD) or maybe even a new monitor. Remember to add about 100 dollars for the OS. I didn't know if you wanted Windows 7, 8.1, or 10. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($242.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($88.45 @ OutletPC) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury White 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($80.93 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE 3X Video Card ($324.99 @ NCIX US) Total: $737.36 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-12-28 14:11 EST-0500 Let me know what you think and we can go from there. -
From PR Support Forums Let me know if this fixes the issue for you.

Thank you for the fast reply! I'll mark as resolved.

Can you post the log file mentioned in the error? (PRLauncher.log) Be sure to put it between tags to avoid weird formatting issues.

It has been quite some time since this issue was created, and with the limit set to unlimited combined with no further reports of a problem, I am marking as resolved.

Resolved - Issue with game launch
Woz 1st MRB replied to Lystad 1st MRB's question in Closed Tickets
Just to throw another suggestion on to the pile, in my research I came across reports in some cases of Skyrim having issues with in-game overlays (Teamspeak, Fraps, Raptr, Mumble, Ventrilo, Steam, etc.). Try closing all of these if they are running, and then of course launch it directly from SkyrimLauncher.exe as administrator. Not sure if it will work, but it is worth a shot. -
Resolved - Issue with Google Chrome
Woz 1st MRB replied to Gearhart 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
Not an optimal solution (no fix for Chrome was found), but marking as resolved since you have found an alternative that is to your satisfaction.
