Have you added any custom sounds to DoD? If you have, the sound you're missing is probably corrupt or broken. Best bet, find another custom sound for the KAR 98 and re-upload. You can also dig through your sound files for the sound clip and delete it, this should revert you back to the default sound. If you have not added custom sounds, there are two things I can think of that could help. One, go to your steam library, right-click Day of Defeat: source and go to properties. click on the local files tab and click verify integrity of game cache. Or two, reinstall dods.

they are called GIFs, I'm sure if you google "GIF" you will find tons of "Funny GIF" websites, just browse cautiously and be careful downloading. Also, if you link to a known malware/adware site on our forums it can cause some problems and I will remove them.

Ran the process monitor that Lafy suggested, nothing went up during the freeze... I'm pretty sure it isn't my hard drive, but I guess I could run a HD scan. Not sure which manufacturer it is, I'll check when I get home...
