An agreement has been reached to sell the Atlanta Thrashers to a Winnipeg-based group which plans to move the franchise to the Manitoba capital. sources confirmed thursday that an announcement confirming the sale of the Thrashers to True North Sports and Entertainment could come as early as Tuesday, May 24. The group currently owns and operates the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League and the MTS Centre arena, where the team would play. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, is expected to travel to Winnipeg to make the news official.

I heard about this earlier this season but I thought it wouldn't happen like the Phoenix deal. That's pretty awesome, and you know this also makes Thrashers gear more valuable.

The owners of the Jets name has said they can use the name if they so wish. But i personally thing they may be better off using a new name. But its good to see a team back in winnipeg, also uselss fact for you Atlanta are now the only City in NHL History to lose a franchise Twice.

But aslong as the Flyers are safe im a happy englishman.
