I use some mouse I've had for a long time - I think it came with a PC I had way back.

A mouse is a mouse is a mouse. Some have maybe a a better 'accuracy', but it's really so infinitesimally small I personally believe it doesn't matter (although others could probably provide evidence otherwise).

I will be one of the few in the gaming world to stand by Microsoft mice, I've had my Sidewinder X5 for nearly 2 years now, and it's been great. Microsoft and Razer are really the only 2 companies I'd consider for my next mouse.

That's the mouse I have. I don't need the 10 extra buttons or so that the Naga has and I could never figure out a weighted mouse that would actually "enhance" my playing skills.

Exactly. Thank you Yama. The Imperator is a nice, easy to use, low maintenance mouse, but allows for enough customizing that you cna make it your own. Sadly my DPI up button is broken so I am playing at top speed all the time. (It's jammed into the mouse, don't ask me how, I get crazy when I drink Crown...)

Razer, Logitech, Microsoft, they all make good gaming mice. It's really all personal preference.

A Razer might feel weird to you while it is sworn by to someone else. Best advice is don't buy one until you have it in your hand. Best Buy has a pretty wide selection, including Razer, and you can see if the mouse feels right before you buy it.

I'm using a Logitech MX 518 and have been for a few years now. On the fly DPI adjustments, etc etc.. I am however about to get the new 2012 Imperator after playing around with it at Best Buy.

Honestly, a better mousepad will give you more control than two different high end mice will. I use a Razer Vespula Mouse pad and I love it.

Oh, and Goodwin, that's just not the truth, sorry. It's all about DPI or Dots Per Inch. This is basically how far you have to move your mouse versus how far it moves your pointer across your monitor. At 5600 DPI, you move your mouse 1 inch and it moves 5600 pixels on your monitor. This makes a HUGE difference vs say 1600 DPI. Most non gaming grade mice are around 800 DPI if I recall correctly. Now say you are playing at a higher resolution, like me. I play at 1920 x 1280. At 800DPI I would have to move my mouse 2 and a half inches to move from one side of the screen to the other. At 5600 DPI I would move only a fraction of an inch. This makes all the world of a difference in twitch shots, rambo-ing, snap shots, you name it. There is a reason you don't see world class gamers using a 10 dollar mouse from Wal-Mart.

I have the Razer Mamba and I have to say it's one of the best mice I've used. Logitech has some really great mice aswell but nothing as sophisticated as this Mamba.

6400dpi 4G Dual Sensor System, outfitted with a laser and an optical sensor to accurately calibrate the mouse to any surface for exceptional pinpoint tracking. It can also go cordless or corded whenever you want, I keep mine corded most of the time.

For those looking for something off the beaten path, I present to you the mouse to end all mice, or something.

The Rat 7

This thing is amazing, and after reading some reviews on it in PC Gamer tonight at work I've gotta say, I might be buying one. It's not too expensive either.

I think the coolest thing on it is the "Sniper" button. for anyone who plays at a high DPI, you know sniping can be a pain sometimes and cause you to lower your DPI. This button, is like holding your breath to steady your shot. It lowers your DPI to a setting you choose while the button is depressed, then returns your DPI to it's normal setting.

Add to that it's fully customizable, it looks insanely cool, and it has buttons for just about anything, unless you choose to remove them.

Purely awesome.

So I just got home from Best Buy, where I purchased the RAT 7.

I haven't tested it out yet, but the first thing I did was fit it to my hand. I've gotta say, having owned Razer, Logitech, and Microsoft gaming mice, this one just feels ... right I guess is the best way to put it. The buttons are right where they should be, and at the same time not in the way. I swear Quasimodo could make this mouse fit to his hand, it's adjustable in just about any direction you can imagine.

Will give a better review once I've gamed with it but so far, for $79.99 at Best Buy, this is a great purchase.
