I have always loved to own a glock.. but I can't afford one lol

Your post-tense made me think you had a glock... You mean to say you "have always wanted to own a glock" or "would love to own a glock," stop confusing me with your reh-tardedness.

I never really liked the glock, it's "too popular" for my taste, it seems like everyone has one. Although, I've never shot one so I can't say I would mind owning one.

But... it's the helmet, sir! I CANT HELP IT

I'd prefer a good 'ol 1911

Jump on the bandwagon you nancy. Open up your mind, go learn a few things about other .45 cal's out there. The 1911 isn't the only one, as a matter of fact the Glock 21 is a .45 thats about 10x more reliable then the 1911. The 1911 is a pretty gun, but I would rather have an ugly gun that I can rely on in a scenario where I need it, then a pretty gun that might jam on me.

I don't like em. It was my first pistol, and the trigger safety..well..it was the first pistol I shot, but not the first i've dry-fired and got a feel for. M9 during weapon familiarity day in Army ROTC, an M1911A1, Webley Mk 6, Rugers, etc...

And I'll say having the amount of laxness before the actual resistance and break is kinda unsettling for someone who've been firing primarily military rifles and traditionally created guns.

In the end I limpwristed the gun, it stovepiped or failure to feed, dun remember because my friend took the gun from me and cleared it before giving me a few pointers.

That said that's some good deals. As for reliability, a .45 is reliable for the ammunition it was created for, that is, FMJ rounds. Using anything else will get you FTFs, stovepipes, you name it. If you want a colt, use full metal jacket. That said I might be getting CZs. If I can find a pre-B 75 that'll be aweseome, but a Hi-Power is good too.

...

Sig P210 if I can find it.

.45 is a high power round, but the .40 cal has just about the same knockdown, for a lower cost. I mean shit, its the federally used service round now for the FBI, CIA, and like 26 other countries militaries and national police forces. It's gotta be doing something right. I prefer the .40 over the .45 because it just feels like a more consistent round to me.

And to Pang, about the laxness of the trigger and all his troubles, sounds like an Operator Head Space and Timing failure to me ;).

Just gotta say.. most bad ass pistol (more or less a cannon) is the Smith and Wesson .500 Magnum... just saying. Blow off some fuck's arm with that thing.

As well as your own Shoulder :P

I hate Glocks, got to fire a police service Glock for Metro Toronto once, hated it. I hate how they look, and the ergonomics on it were shit IMO. That, and they're so damn expensive, you could get a piece of history, a Russian Tokarev TT-33 and 2000 rounds of ammo for the same price as a Glock.

Granted, part of that recommendation is the collector in me talking, but there are plenty of more modern pistols that are cheaper, more aesthetically pleasing, and have better ergonomics than a Glock.

No offense, but are you out of your mind? Granted, it's an ugly pistol, but everything about the pistol is efficient, from the weapons parts, and the way to operate the pistol. As for price? I can get a brand new Glock 21 for 550 bucks, with 2 10 round magazines, a cleaning rod and a Glock Mag Load device. Not a bad price if you ask me. As for a Tokarev, yeah thats a nice piece. As for modern pistols, you really are pretty much limited ot either a cheap-o 1911 Knock Off, or a cheap-o Beretta knock off. That's what it has unfortunately come down to, if you are looking for something that's not a revolver, and has a higher caliber then .380 Automatic.

Have fun trying to hit anything with that. I personally prefer the semi-auto Coonan 1911 .357 magnum.

Coonan .357

No, I'm not, I hate the way they look and I recall holding just like the .45 I was shooting and the damn Glock was giving me cramps. Glocks are ugly, uncomfortable, and I really don't like them at all.

Also, I doubt the 1911 would still be as popular a design now if it were as unreliable as you say it is. It's been around for 100 years and countless pistols have been designed similar to it in many ways, not to mention it looks and feels better than a Glock. There are people who'd say you don't deserve to own a gun for calling the 1911 unreliable.

Also, ever heard of Glocknades? If you don't clean the Glocks properly, and frequently, they've been known to explode. You could leave a WWII era gun lying in mud, shake it out a little after, and fire it perfectly fine with no problems. I'd love to see the modern firearm that can do that, a damn Glock would explode if you tried.

For $550, I'd take a 1911 Clone over a Glock any day.

You see, that first impression sticks. While I think a Glock does what it does, I think I'll go look for a Hi-Power. Not meaning to rag on McKenzie, I just don't see myself using a GLOCK. It has not, what you can say, impressed me. It's probably the collector in me, but in terms of more modern handguns, I think I'll lay off the GLOCKs and go for something that I, me, personally feel best suits my own physical preferences, and aesthetic preferences.

Ok, to be fair? You're "Glocknade" excuse is thin. That can go for just about any gun that you own, especially pistols. Don't get me wrong the WWII-era pistols are great, I own a German Made Luger that I cherish. However the point I am making, is that especially in mdoern times, the 1911 has lost its luster. The modern 1911's are not anywhere NEAR as reliable as you make them out to be, they are made from inferior parts and by inferior manufacturers. The original Colt 1911 was a great handgun, don't get me wrong, I just don't see how people can still love it so much when so many of the knock offs people make are absolute shit. I prefer my guns to be simple, easy to use and easy to clean. Comparing the glocks total of 5 parts to strip it down to a field strip, to the 1911's probably 8-12 pieces (I forget the exact amount), I will take the simpler and easier to maintain pistol.

My point is, if all your reasons for hating a Glock (It's ugly, uncomfortable, and supposedly explosive), are all based on personal opinion and conjecture, then its not a strong argument. It's an ugly pistol, yes, but its got beauty in its simplicity. Not to mention the company has one of the highest reliability rates of any handgun maker in the world. It's uncomfortable, again based on opinon. You can't shoot a Glock like you shoot a 1911. That's like saying you shoot a .44 Magnum Revolver like you shoot a 1911. They are different guns, you have to hold them differently. It's explosive, well perhaps if someone doesn't know how to properly maintain a firearm, (although I will say I have never heard of this "Glocknade" theory you speak of), then perhaps something like that may have happened once or twice. However that doesn't make it the majority, otherwise why would police and military forces around the world use it as their primary handgun?

Police around the world maybe, militaries not so much. Most of your argument centres around your opinion on them as well so calling me out on my opinion using yours as a counter-argument is just as shaky. As far as I know, more militaries use Beretta and H&K than use Glock. Also, in terms of supposed "cheap knock-offs" of 1911s, I know Colt still makes them themselves, the centennial model was recently released, and Para Ordnance makes incredibly reliable and accurate 1911-style pistols. And while Norinco might have a bad rep, they still make decent, and cheap, guns, and I can get them for a hell of a lot cheaper up here than most other companies. Saying they've lost their lustre, that's just your opinion, just as mine is that Glock makes ugly guns that are uncomfortable. Any other decent-sized handgun I've had no problems in terms of comfort, except for the Glock, and that's just my opinion and my preference.

I don't like Glocks, no matter how reliable or whatever they are, I don't like them, I don't like the look or the feel of them, and ultimately that's what matters to the shooter, how it feels. If I were getting a gun for CCW, I'd be getting one that I like the feel of, hell I'd be doing the same even for target shooting, and I don't like the feel of Glocks. I don't give a shit about their reliability or simplicity, if I don't like the way they shoot that's what matters in the end, and I don't. Having a different opinion about them than you doesn't make me insane, it means I have a different taste in weapons. Personally, I don't like a gun that looks like someone put a metal box on top of it that moves, that's how I see the Glock, a moving metal box on top of a pistol grip. I like something with a bit more curvature to it. That, and it was uncomfortable to shoot, the only guns that were more uncomfortable that I've shot were the Walther PPK and TPH, and that's because they're so damn small. Having my own opinion doesn't make me insane, it makes me an individual, and no matter what the hell you say about the Glock, I still won't like it, no matter how simple or reliable it is, in my subjective opinion it's ugly and uncomfortable, and if I find it uncomfortable, I'm not going to shoot it as well as I would one that feels right, and there are plenty of other guns just as reliable and simple that I could get as alternatives that I think both look and feel better.

As for Glocknades, that was a half-joke, but on the /k/ section of one of the Chan boards, Glocks in specific were the guns that gained an explosive reputation. I know it's likely a small number thereof that were improperly maintained, but you have to wonder why it was they who gained the rep and not someone else in the first place. Granted, when people don't know a lot, they can spout a ton of crap that catches on (like people thinking milsurp corrosive will immediately start disintegrating your gun, or at least, that's what it seems with how much some people seem to hate it).
