It started as a general inconvenience where my laptop would freeze for a few seconds due to video card overheating and possible LCD screen short. I called Alienware tech support (aka Dell support) and reported the issue, they authorized video card and LCD screen replacement. A day later, a technician arrived to replace the video cards and the screen. The LCD was replaced, however there was only one video card in the box as well as a processor heat sink that did not match my laptop model, two replacement video card fans and the main processor fan. Confused, the technician replaced what he could and put the laptop back together. Then the laptop would not power up, he took it back apart, checked his wires and put it back together. Still no power, he calls Dell technician support they ask him to pull wires on the new components, and test powering up with each scenario. Still nothing, dell support offers to send new parts or to take my laptop to the depot and troubleshoot there. Obviously, I don't want to throw parts at my laptop hoping that fixes it so I opt to send it to depot... Now I am waiting for them to fix it and send it back to me, the process should take 5 days at the least and 10 days at the most. Luckily I have a netbook for my schoolwork and programming work, but it has trouble handling minesweeper so games are a no-go.
Long story short, my laptop is fubar and I will not be able to play any video games for at least 5 days from now.
