Trying to find a boat Help??

Hey guys, I need a place to stay this summer and any apartments around here are going to be really expensive to stay for just the summer. So I had the bright idea to buy a boat, a sailboat to be precise, and live off of it for the summer. I am looking for a single crew, spacious cabin with kitchen area, and relatively cheap. My reasoning behind this is that I will have the boat long after college and it gives me something to do on weekends during the school year. If anyone has any experience in sailing and knows some good models please let me know because I need to start researching this now. Thanks

With that being said, look for anything by Catalina. If anything breaks you will be able to order replacement parts without any problems.

I just checked craigslist's Maine listings and all the boats being sold are too small or way overpriced. You will need to check out of state if you plan to use that website to help you.

NY has a lot of boats that are cheap because of people not paying their yard bills. It would take you about 5-7 days to sail it up north, but it might be worth it.

It ain't glamorous, but get yourself a fucking houseboat. I grew up working boats on the Columbia river. We had a cruise boat and 2 house boats. The best house boat we had was an old River Queen. Twin Chrysler 318 Marine engines. But man, talk about a fuck pad. Getting busy in a sailboat bruises the hell out me. Get yourself a houseboat, and you've got instant amatuer porn going on.

I dont know much about buying or selling sailboats, Not a usual run of the mill activity. Out of pure speculation may i suggest researching dockyard boat auctions. Like it was mentioned earlier, not everone pay's their yard bill.

This is listings of boats that have been donated and they sell for ridiculously low prices. Some are in good shape, but for the most part they are fixer-uppers.. (is that a word?)

I have a buddy who bought a Catalina 27 for 800 bucks on there. It was in Miami though so he had to pay like a grand or so to get it delivered here, but that's still a hell of a deal for a sailboat.
