So..... what does the steam virus look like....

Alright so my computer is fucking up. It randomly just turns off, doesn't even shut down just power cuts off without anything showing up. Aswel as when I boot the computer up other times windows will fail to boot or it will just restart several times. I have no idea what it is that's going on with it. I have run Spy-bot S&D, and also run Malwarebytes, neither of them showed up anything malicious. So after I ran those I did a system restore (which only showed restore points back to 11/11/11 and I find that odd as I have had the comp since mid to late August) which deleted both of those programs as I hadn't yet installed them, installed them on the thirteenth when my firewall randomly shut down. So I then re-installed and the comp shut down immediately after finishing the install, when I pressed the power button it prompted me to run in safe mode so of course I did. Once into safe mode I ran both programs again with admin privileges and nothing was found, so I looked for my Disk Check and it does not show up any where not even in the control panel. Please help me figure out what the fuck is going on with my computer. I have not had any problems with the machine other than these random shut downs and failing to load windows one time, in which I attempted to have the computer recover itself and it said it couldn't and then shut down, I waited ten minutes and turned it back on and it booted fine. Now however It is prompting me to boot in safe mode almost every time I turn the damn thing on. If the computer had been doing this random shut off before I would say that it was my power supply but this has only just begun in the last 2-3 weeks, and that still wouldn't explain the boot errors.

I really really don't wanna have to uninstall steam and all of my games but it is looking like that may be the only option left to me, please help me out.

The error that showed up when it failed to fix my windows boot was 0x0 and their is an error log file saved to my notepad called 0x0409

First thing i would do is to Get Avast. its free anti virus. because to me the other one mentioned sound like spyware. just personal pref i guess. Secondly Update Everything, Graphics, service pack if available OS updates everything. once that's done go into Error Check

Control Panel >> sys. Security. >> Admin Tools >> Event Viewer. Go into Even viewer and look around for Fatal Errors. under Windows logs and security logs. this will shed a little more insight on what the actual problem is.

It may be hardware related as well, perhaps power supply or Motherboard issues...the powering off at random times is often a sign of that.

so all of the errors appear to be related to my win32 application and the oldest traces back to my motherboard driver, that sum update affected. I am going to re-install my motherboard driver via the boot cd that came with it, and then try and re-update it on ASUS' website

Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

that was my most recent error. I have no idea what that is meaning aside from a registry error and crash.

Some of your drivers may have become corrupt at some point, installing them fresh would fix that.

Well I had thought it was over, but I had thought wrong. I only have a 360 Watt power supply in here so could that be the problem? Although why it would be only now be being a problem and not since I bought the computer idk, but machines are fickle like that.

oooo yeah that may be a big issue. I would definitely look into at least a 600 watt.
