We've got some travelers here and lots of locations. I am a pretty big fan of eating at good places, but here are my favorite places and types of food that I will go out of my way to return to. And don't give me a chain. Pick unique places or, at the very least, something that is a small chain for your region.

Best burrito place - San Diego - Valerio's - its a cool little yellow barn. Open 24/7, breakfast burritos but the best is a California burrito (Carne Asada, french fries, cheese, guacamole, and pico de gallo in a home-made toritlla that has a 2' diameter for $4. Oh, and its drive-thru only.

Best Steakhouse - Seattle - The Metropolitan - Steaks are expensive, but not unreasonably. Spent ~$80 on a Ribeye that was 2 1/2" thick and cooked to perfection. Enough mashed potatoes to choke a donkey, and a truly delightful mac and cheese. If you go to the northwest, swing by. Worth every penny. But you'll need a reservation.

Best Asian food place - Greeley, CO - Ambrosia - Awesome food. Definately recommend the Peanut Sauce Curry and the Thai Curry Noodles. Mmmmm. Great casual dining.

Best Niche Place - Fort Collins, CO - The Rodizio Grill - This place is amazing. Tons of food. A salad bar that is 40' long with amazing quail's eggs, mozzerella salads, mmm.. So good. Oh, then there is the entree. Its an all you can eat affair. They bring out 12 types of meats on skewers and they slice off sections for you to try. Immaculate preparation.

Best Bar Fare in Milwaukee? The Old German Bier Hall, traditional German Bier Hall style, long bench tables, big thick Krugs to drink from, even a Krug Club (pronounced Krew-gah) that you pay a monthly fee to enter, and for the price of a pint you can get any Krug filled. They have traditional German fare to, including red cabbage, smoked pork chop sandwiches, and other amazing food.

If you are ever in Southeast Win-Sconsin, look it up, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Fastfood Burger - Smashburger, any time I travel I try to find one for lunch. Guacamole and fresh jalapeno slices (not pickled) on a burger = best burger ever. Definitely get the fries.

Burrito - Freebird, fantastic little place I first ate at in Austin, but I think they are expanding.

Hotel:

Kimpton Hotels used to offer a great mil discount and have fantastic restaurants in them. But they don't have a lot of rooms for government rate anymore so you have to book early out. Always in downtown, in many major cities.
