Well, if you take out the multiple human rights violations and acts of genocide + breaches of the Geneva convention that Waffen SS and Wermacht units ended up comitting, the German Army of the time was the best army, man for man, in the world (Arguably).

My love for Napoléon and his Grande Armée made me buy Napoleon total war when it was still 50$ ­ .

To be honest Waffen SS is the best IMO (in WW II)
