This topic is for guys who where in the military to share theyre story's while they were serving theyre country.

Iraq: Ar Ramadi, 2006-2008

My platoons mission was to take a house that had a HVT in it (High Value Target) but to mask the raid by hitting 3 other house's. My squads job was to hold a strong hold for a fall back point, myself i had the m240 C, its a heavy MG, i was the only one in my platoon who carried that bitch of a gun. i had 1200 rounds of 7.62 link, and 200 rounds of AP, when the mission was half way done, we where getting ready to Exfil back to our CP called eagles nest, when i was getting off the roof, the enemy opened fire, so i turned around posted on the wall to fire back, at the same time, my entire platoon came to roof and started to return fire with me, the enemy started to flank around to our right and encircle us in this building, my CO was on the radio trying to get air support to cover us as we fell back. We where denied air support, our BC (battalion commander) got on the raid and said and i quete " Im about to lose an entire platoon and a company commander, you better get air support now or there WILL be consaquinces" the next thing we new, there as a AC130 gunship over our heads fireing. We then all got off the roof and started to exfil back to eagles nest. When we got back to the FOB (Forward Operation Base) we got the report from the AC130 saying that there was 23 Enemy KIA before they started to fire, ater they finished fireing there was a total of 138 enemy KIA. if it where not for that gun ship, i would not be here today to enjoy destroying pubbers with you guys.

due to that conflict that day i earned my CIB (Combat Infantry Badge)

and my ARCOM with a V device (Army Comidation Medal with Valor)

heres another story where I almost died....

Iraq, Ar Ramadi:2006-2008

My squad was incharge on conducting route security on a main IED road, (Impervised Explosive Device), well called it death way, this road was natorious for blowing up guys and killing people, i personaly have been blowen up on that road 26 times. The idea of securing it was that one humvee sites in one spot called a static position, and the other goes up and down the road 2 twice hen they switch off. its 2:00 AM, im the driver of the static truck and we are parked in front of an allie way, my gunner had a MK 19 for a main weapon, my gunner started to inform me he is seeing people peek out from around the corners, told him hes just seeing, all of a sudden we started to take contact from that allie, my gunner yelled down at me to move forward because his gun jammed, (yeah he never cleaned it), after he got it fixed i backed up and he unloaded to ammo cans of 40MM down the allie, after the contact was broken, we went back to Eagles nest to get some rest, but with me being the driver of the humvee, i had to check the humvee to make sure it wasnt damaged really bad, the doors on my humvee are Frag 5 doors, witch means that they are an inch and a half thick, upon my inspection i found a hold in my door. The hole went all the way through my back driver side door, I then went to the other side and looked at that door, I pulled back the pertective foam and found the round that was the size of a 50 cal round, half an inch in that door.

The next day we went back to the FOB and an investigation team came out to inspec the vehicle and the round, from what they could see, they said that I was lucky because because the lastest enemy intel was that they where going to be targeting the drivers of the vehicles. The enemy that shot the round at my humvee was aiming for me, and if i didnt move then i would have been dead. That round would have made my insides mouish.
