The aftermath of 912 vs Obama Inauguration

Violent extremists have exploited these tensions in a small but potent minority of Muslims. The attacks of September 11, 2001 and the continued efforts of these extremists to engage in violence against civilians has led some in my country to view Islam as inevitably hostile not only to America and Western countries, but also to human rights. All this has bred more fear and more mistrust.

It’s ironic how we view Muslims as hostile when the majority of Muslims have views that are sympathetic to those who kill us. As for Muslims being hostile to human rights, maybe we get that impression from the fact that they really are hostile to human rights.

I would just like to point out that the Muslim population that the author claims to be hostile to the Americans and the West is probably angered for the same reason Americans are. Don't forget who invaded Iraq and has proceeded to wound and kill thousands of innocent civilians. As for the human rights violations Obama is saying that the violations are breeding the fear and mistrust, not that they are not breaking human rights laws. I would like to point out that Christianity has been that severe in its dealings with crimes in the past and also the only "law" providing citizens human rights is set out by the UN, which no nation is bound to follow, and don't tell me otherwise because if it was, America wouldn't be in Iraq.

The majority of the Muslim population is sympathetic to humanity. Most Muslims are good people. Unless you inter fear with their family or religion, then things get bad. There are the extremists out there too. These extremists, such as Al Qaeda, bring a bad reputation upon the Muslim world: hence the profiling that takes place. The UN is a waste and should be dissolved in my opinion. I think the level of human rights should differ from nation to nation without a world court to oversee it. "Don't forget who invaded Iraq and has proceeded to wound and kill thousands of innocent civilians." As for that, yeah we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. No doubt in that. Was it a mistake? Can it be justified? That's up to everyones own opinion. As for killing thousands of innocent civilians it seems like you haven't had a first hand experience over there. When you watch and IED designed to kill Americans and is detonated in a crowded town square, you see bodies everywhere and pieces of bodies everywhere. Al Qaeda or the Taliban may get five Americans in one strike, but what about the civilians near the blast? Most of the civilian deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan are caused from American enemies bombs. Unless of course you watch nothing but MSNBC, CNN, ABC, etc. If people want the real story that isn't biased, I suggest they go over themselves and see what these Muslim EXTREMISTS are capable of. Or you could ask me, or someone else who has actually been through. And Gooderham, if you were over there I would love to know where you were because it's a lot different from everywhere that I was. If I totally misunderstood you, well then never mind my comments.

GMoney, the point I was trying to make is that not all Muslims are extremists. I was simply trying to correlate the poor public opinion of the West held by the Muslim population and the violence caused by the American military whether it be bombings by Al Qaeda or military.

Appart from your suggested dismemberment of the UN, I agree with most of your post but I think you missed FOX as a biased "news" network.

Yeah I got a little confused with what you were trying to say there so I just kinda threw it out there. FOX too is biased. While I consider myself a neoconservative I go to FOX, CNN, BBC, and Al Jazeera for my news coverage. As for political cases I just look it up from capital hill itself. Sorry if I mis judged ya.
