HIGHLIGHTS
England 2 - 3 NetherlandsFans of ol' Albion saw a riveting, if somewhat disappointing first match for interim England manager Stuart Pearce. Some upsides, in my opinion: Richards and Johnson linked up well, and bouncing back from a 2-0 deficit is never easy. Also, Robben's brilliance is always a pleasure to watch.

Argentina 3 - 1 A riveting performance from Lionel Messi fired a lackluster Argentine side to victory in Bern, against a Swiss side that put up quite a fight. The link up between the Barcelona man and Manchester City's Kun Aguero was magical, but little else looked great for Argentina.

Arsenal 2 - 1 LiverpoolRVP brilliance, Szczezny's Polish Magic, and a series of missed opportunities for Liverpool put the London side in 4th place on the table, 3 points clear of Chelsea. For most of the 90 minutes it looked like a Liverpool victory was certain, but Suarez's many nimble runs into the box ended in nothing and the absence of Andy Carroll was notable. The absence of any changes until the 84th minute was stupefying, and called into question King Kenny's tactical know-how.

Chelsea sack AVBIt seems Abrahmovic's (notoriously short) patience was spent after the blues lost away to West Brom. Seems unfair to me, but not untypical of Chelsea, to sack a promising young manager because of a bad spell. Chelsea are still in 5th place, and absolutely in the running for Champions League football next year, as well as still in the FA Cup and Champs league this year. I don't really get how switching to the assistant manager is going to help, but whatever.
