New map ideas

so this is open for everyone, as you guys may know already ive been learning on my own on how to make maps. well ive ran out of ideas for logical maps. So im turning to you guys, my fellow members, if you guys have had an idea for a map thats been your small brain of yours for a long time, send me the idea with what you want.

screen shots of other maps with props or wall textures that you want, hand made drawings, digital drawings, i dont give a rats ass, just send me the idea and ill see what i can do.

I am currently working on a realism map, to give you a basic idea of it, its a battle ship from WWII, and its abut as long as 2 football fields put together, for you euros- its as big as 2 and half "football" fields long and just as wide. But if you got an idea like in CS they have CS_RATS. i can make kind of the same thing, except call it DOD_COCKROACH, lol, it dosnt matter, just shoot me an idea and ill see what i can do. When i start the work on the map i will send you a private message letting you know i have started and when i am done with it, ill post it in the ordnance office.

P.S. no dicks or vagina maps, magoo has already asked me. i can make them but im not going to waist my time with making a map that will never see the light of day.

I've been thinking about what would make a cool map.. I think something like avalanche but where both sides get the high ground

Like a bend around a mountain peak with cliffs on either side.

Alternatively, maybe there's a bridge at the bottom of the hill that both sides want to control.

Bottom of the hill could also be a mortar firing area.

Shortcut through houses/sewers could be really easy to defend. Alternatively a maze that's really hard to control inside, but the exits can be covered.

For realism purposes the map would be split right down the middle from top to bottom.

Also i've been learning maya all year man so if I could help make some objects and stuff I'd be glad for the practice

Also I love the maps that utilize 'e-keyable artillery. :) Maybe one where the realism leader would hang back at the spawn with the artillery and use his troops as spotters to decide which path to bomb. Can only shoot one path at a time between reloads so the leaders would have to be mad strategic or risk wasting their fire support on a feint. Make it something like forests realism so theres tons of foliage cover but it won't help you if you're getting shelled.

As for themes could go into the crazy-nazi-scientist lore like the super masive fortres-tanks they had on the drawing boards or the 'der glocke' bell radiation-generator/time machine/levitation device. Or those wacky sound-cannons.

How about a night-time level where use of the flashlight is near essential? Could have mortars loaded with flare rounds that light up an area brilliantly -so people sneaking around in the dark get caught out in the open/realize where they are

How about a map that had a medic station near the spawn like we have in the grenade practice range? Takes you back up to full health but takes a while so can have the option of losing a man for X amount of time in a realism round or having him fight on at lower HP.

Alternatively it could be completely superfluous given the medic mod already but it would make for a nice feature with a MASH tent and such and I bet people would still use it. :')

And mein gott, a driveable jeep.. Even if it just went around in a circuit like a sclaectrix car while you hold 'e'. Pick a moment to use it to drop two or three peeps behind their lines and makes for a fun target for a panzershrek. If too complicated maybe it could just move in a straight line to zip you across the bredth of the map on your side of the lines allowing for rapid reinforcement/retreat.

The halftracks could be used for the same purpose, might be easier to avoid bugs because the models have that box you can stand in -and you could prone for protection inside while the enemy tries to get a grenade in the top. It'd be such a disastrously distracting disruption to a defense seeing this halftrack trundle past, knowing peeps are proning inside and could pop out if you don't pay attention to it. Or your troops could creep along side it on attack, using it as cover but advertising their presence with the motor sounds.

On panzershreks, could have destructable barriers and bunkers, I remember bazooka-targets in 1.3 and those were fun maps. There was some tank hunting map with the british, can argue that its too hard to defend against rockets but it could go either way and avoided stalemates

Could have a map with a no-mans land minefield with contact mines like on Strand. Really hard to defend vs. taking a gamble to cross it.

The battleship idea sounds awesome man, you could set it in a norwegian fjord as a fictional marine raider mission to take out a pocket battleship. Allies trying to set charges at the bottom of the ship, alarms go off and peeps scramble for their spawns to avoid the explosions. :) DOD's biggest strength is source and its customizableness, it started off as a mod, we don't really need valve to keep it fresh. :3

A map like this is known as dod_switchback, is a really awesome map but isn't comonly used for some reason.

I like the idea though, and your other ideas are good but potentially difficult to implement. I am looking into tutorials on scripting to try and figure out a few ways to get some of the things that your talking about into maps that are in the brainstorm proccess.
