They go hand in hand.

You take David Lee Roth out of Van Halen and all you have left is that Sammy Hagar bullshit. See how many votes Sammy Hagar got. Now tell me how awesome Eddie Van Halen is without David Lee Roth. And no one ever even mentions Gary Cherone. He was with the band after Sammy Hagar left but he was such a stinker that people just subconsciously omit him completely.

I would not see David Lee Roth perform on his own. I would not see Eddie Van Halen perform on his own, because there really wouldn't be anything to watch. And I would never see anything that featured Sammy fucking Hagar. I CAN drive 55 you dumb motherfucker.

To wrap up, I just saw Van Halen at Madison Square Garden about a month ago. They were awesome. David Lee Roth is still quite a character on stage and his voice sounds the same while singing. He lost the ability to hit the really high notes, but I can live with that. Eddie Van Halen is still boss on the guitar and had a 15 minute solo during the concert that was great to see. Alex Van Halen is a talented drummer and also had a 10 minute solo during the concert that was entertaining. Wolfgang Han Halen didn't get any love really, but I was ok with that.

I really like Van Halen and if they had been able to act like adults back in the 80's we would have gotten a lot more out of them.

To that quote, I have to call "Bullshit." If you had a chance to see Eddie Van Halen solo, I bet you would jump on it as fast as any other Van Halen fan. Sure, it's amazing to see the whole band, it is a BAND and the band is what made Van Halen epic. However, in my opinion, the greatest thing about '80s music is the guitar solo. (Not the hair, oddly enough)

Im so jealous its not even funny! however i would pay so much money to just sit and watch Eddie just jam on the guitar for hours. Denfitly David over Sammy any day though.
