So im about to sell my 2001 Jepp Cherokee. It was my first car and ive had it for three years. At this point its not worth sinking the money into to keep the car alive. I plan on getting between 1500-2k for it. Planning on financing a new car for 10k, with about 5k down.

I am wondering, what are your popinions regarding reliability, mpg, etc. on a few different cars.

Honda Civic

Honda Accord

VW Passat

VW Jetta

Mazda 3

Toyota Yaris

Volvo S60

All opinions requested.

GO!

Yeah i know Honda's are amazing. I may up my budget to 15k but i wanna be able to pay off this car before i go to college in around 18 months. Id do it for the sake of getting a car with that low mileage on it.

But shit at that point i may just go with an Audi. They're pricey and maintenance on them isn't cheap but damn so sexy =p my best friend got a 2008 A4 Quatro with that 2.0 Turbo in it, 40k miles for 20k. His family can afford that shit though :P

Thanks for the input on Mazda 3 Richards, im really liking the look of those cars and i think im going to look into them more. Im really desiring a Honda Civic SI or a VW Jetta though.

My friend tells me Jetta parts are cheaper than Passat parts here in the States. Anyone wanna way in on this?

And please what do you know about Volvos?

Volvos are extremely safe, they seem to get safest car of the year awards allot. They are very reliable too only problem with them is there typically owned by "older" people so they rack up lots of highway miles and sometimes dont get the treatment they need. However they arnt often beaten on because of this.

On the side of the audi a4 I just wanna say they are not very reliable. however a very fun car and safe also. dont get any engine smaller than the 2.0 turbo. Personally id suggest the v6 as opposed to the 4 cylinder turbo because the turbo lag in the small engine is annoying as fuck for normal day to day driving. great for ripping around a track though.

Hondas yes are reliable but please for the sake of being a person who likes cars don't go front wheel drive. VW makes good cars but typically again owned by teens who beet the piss out of them so you will have to watch for burning oil.

Have you looked into a bmw 3 series? There safe, reliable, come in 2 or 4 door options, rwd or awd available, quick, fun, luxury.

I would stay away from the VW Jetta

My wife had one back in the early 90's and it was bullet proof up to 300k miles but now

I bought one for good gas mileage and reliability a used 2004 VW Jetta with 35K miles on it boy was I wrong it has been a lemon.

do a Google search "Volkswagen Jetta Starting and Stalling Issues" you'll see a boat load of issues that they cannot figure out and throw parts at it (cash cow for VW)

I had a Honda and it was a good car and got rid of it for my F-150 wish I would have kept it as a second car.

Hope this helps.
