Yeah man, I have tons of stuff that happened to me like that, Dayz is amazing for that. It was a bit better when you had the bandit skins though, because people were more willing to let that kind of adventure happen to them, now they just shoot you since there's no consequence.

I remember how I met my first gang in Dayz, I was just out of a successful raiding trip into Elektro, I had a M4 with red dot sight and 3 mags, fully stocked on survival gear and food + water. I decide to get up a radio tower to check out the countryside with my newly acquired binocs. There, by a barn maybe 300 meters out, I spot this guy crawling in order to sneak by zeds. I'm a bit torn. I scope in with my sight, make adjustments for bullet drop, get ready to shoot. Then I decide to be nice, and I type out: "Guy out the barn near Elektro, friendly?". Guy takes a minute to reply, says yes. Eventually, with a while of tense chat, we agree to meet up in the barn. He says one of his friends is going to come and join us. Now, I have a very fancy weapon, he notices this, which makes me wary, but I figure, whatever, the risk is worth it, these guys have blood. So I keep my wits about me. Eventually his friend comes around, and we all look at each other for several minutes...and we exchange skype names.

From there we had tons of adventures, went to the NW airfield, got killed, claimed Elektro as ours for a day, hunting noobs and veterans alike in the streets during the night, getting lost, going to devil's castle etc...

Oh...and dying from trying to fix a car. Yes, really. From the car.
