Hey, guys. I just enlisted and I am excited to be a part of the unit! Only one problem: I bought a mic and it sucks. I don't think it's the mic itself, more as it's the fact that I play on a laptop...and not a particularly good one. I was wondering if I could get some assistance on this, as I am supposed to be participating in a drill on August 20th.

'Preciate it, guys!

Being on a laptop really has nothing to do with the mic.

I play on a laptop and have amazing sound.

Like 2nd Lt. Kirkendall said, post your specs and make sure your drivers are up to date. Also, what type of headset/mic/speakers are you using?

If your using the on board mic/speakers, best to grab a headset with a built in mic.

Dunno Gardner... it might be the laptops onboard sound that does it.

I've had this problem before with integrated soundcards, so depending on the laptop

it might that causing the problem (he's using an audio-jack style headset, not USB).

Do you have a USB headset Gardner? If so, then it wont be using your laptops soundcard

to input your voice, so you wont get this kind of problem.

Anyway... I've elaborated on that in the MSO.

Good point, I forgot about that twist, and yes I do run USB Logitech G35's.

I always bust the jacks 3.5mm jacks within a week on my laptops, so stopped using them lol

Thanks guys. I've found a USB Longitech headset for a decent price...although I don't have the funds to purchase them yet...SOON, though. I had to miss my first drills, but I'll get them very soon. Thanks for the input, guys! You rock!

Mics location on laptop really matters, If its integrated near a fan or the mother board it gets washed out like aquaman- My new laptop has a mic in the screen far away from the normal sounds on my computer.
