Has anyone else heard the rumors about Fehrs master plan for the cap?

Lol not happening. The biggest bargaining chip the players had was a potential strike, when they started that they lost any edge in negotiations they might have had. Owners can wait as long as they want, they have another source of income, the players can't afford that luxury. No matter what they agree to, the players will ultimately lose in any deal they make. Whenever there is a strike the players never win, look at '05 when they went from no cap to a fixed cap. The owners won that deal and there's NO WAY they want to go back to a no cap era where player salaries are increased exponentially.

This year would be so much better if hockey was on. i still cant get over the fact that the winter classic is dead. If there is even hope of a season left i dont know i think just all the fans would be extremely bitter about it. Although i wouldnt mind being able to see the jets play down here in Anaheim.

So, latest scuttlebutt is that Bettman is trying to get owners/players only meeting. Apparently he's tired of dealing with Fe-Wall-hr (yes, that's a chemistry pun) for whatever reason x y or z.

That meeting should be funny. Like a father having that condescending "son, you need to get your crap together" talk.

Wonder if the players will stand so "united" when the average player is getting screwed out of 100% of his paycheck while the megastars keep the strike going because they don't want to lose their rich deals.

Really hard to have any sympathy for anyone in this, maybe except the majority of the NHLPA members, guys who *aren't* the megastars. Of course, of the stars who decided to jump to other leagues to "stay in shape" (*cough* get a paycheck *cough*), it's funny that two of the league's biggest names (Crosby and Stamkos) aren't because, oh, I don't know, they're not hypocritical d-bags? But even they, in the face of a season long lockout are starting to look at options. Doesn't bode well.

Oh, and good find Engle on that article.

Desertification?

Soil_erosion,_Southfield_-_geograph.org.

Right, anyways... Wouldn't a decertification be better for the fans that want to see hockey games again? If the union decertifies, what else is left to stop the players from playing? Oh well, lockout didn't work, go right on back to making a million dollars a year. With a decertified union, that means no more union dues, meaning they would make more money, problem solved. It's not like the players are being mistreated...

NHL lockout update: NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will address the media at approximately 1 p.m. ET Wednesday afternoon.

HUGE NEWS! Good or bad, nobody knows yet. This news comes after the players and owners met yesterday in NYC without the presence of Fehr and Bettman. So this either means there's gonna be hockey in December or there's gonna be no hockey this year. PLEASE LET THERE BE HOCKEY!

Great Look! Sorry if I don't sound so optimistic but it seems like the NHL and the NHLPA are still quite a bit away from reaching an agreement. I want Hockey back and I want to see Madison Square Garden come to life. However, as of now we can only hope that they will reach an agreement soon. This isn't the best thing that could have happened, but it is certainly not the worst.
