System doesn't turn on after a bios update?? Those tend to be severe/critical/permanent errors.

Does it show a boot up screen where you could possibly enter the bios somehow, or does it just spin the fans and then turn off, or lock up with a black screen?

Lock up black screen, spin fans then turn off, no boot screen at all

I would assume that your computer had shut down before the BIOS update was complete.

Generally, if your computer is shut off before the BIOS update can be finished, it essentially "bricks" your computer, producing the exact effects you described. Imagine what happens when you corrupt a file on your computer. In this case, that file (figuratively, of course) is your computer.

Perhaps some insight into why this happened.

Regardless, when you return it, I don't suggest you tell them anything about a BIOS update (As long as they don't ask), or anything else. Depending on BestBuy's return policy, that information could void your agreement there.

They are survicing it free of charge being they know it was not human error they said it was a bad update toshiba sent out and now toshiba is getting a shit storm of complaints. Bestbuy took itbno questions asked but it will take two weeks to get back repaired, i have the no questions asked return policy, aka one year fix anything coverage

Well that is good news.

Happy to hear it is getting repaired, and that it was a problem by Toshiba.

Just as a heads up for those whom maynot know, you can do everything right and still endup with a bad flash of bios. ive done this a couple times had a power flicker or even mistaken a revision number on a certain motherboard model.

here is a site to help in those times,

http://www.badflash.com/

Jack who runs is an awsome dude, he can not only reflash a bios chip with correct flash (providing its not damaged or faulty) he can sell you a new one with stock or updated flash. he was very patient and very resonably priced.

check him out
