Marathon on Spike TV if anyone wants to check it out. Limited commercial interruption.

ALways love when they do that on Veterans' Day. I own the series on DvD myself, watched it like 100 times.

Whats your favorite episode?

Got it recording on my pvr =D

I've got the DVD box set.

It's tough to say which is my favorite episode, the whole series is just so bad ass, but if I had to choose it would probably have to be Foy.

If you don't mind, I'd like to hijack your topic and add a poll to it. Do you guys prefer Band of Brothers or The Pacific? Personally, I think it's Band of Brothers hands down.

You can't compare them, they are two different shows with two different styles. Band of Brothers follows a group of people through out the war, where as in the Pacific they are trying to show how the war changes people and focusing on the individual. I enjoy them both lots, they just cannot be compared

I didn't ask for people to compare them, I asked which they preferred...

I agree Foy is a great episode, but its a close second to carentan, after that its replacements. i love the action in all of those. the sounds of the MG42 firing in Carentan gets me wet....

On that note, think one of my favorite things about DOD:S is that the do the sound effects of the different weapons PERFECTLY. anyone else, enh enh?

nice poll LTCOL, we should add another one for favorite episodes! idk if you can do that but that would be cool.

I'm all about band of brothers. the Story was just more rich overall.

"They were equally good" seems like a comparative statement :P

One leaves me with what I imagine is a much more realistic idea of the cost of war, and really shook me the first time I watched it- The Pacific.

The other is an awesome narrative of a group of incredible people that inspires me every time I watch it- Band of Brothers.

Band of Brothers had the better story line and was great at introducing each main character. I thought The Pacific was better visually and did a great job recreating the battle grounds of the pacific. I also liked how The Pacific showed more of the affects of war on soldiers especially Sledge during Okinawa.

I want to get the box set.

Foy is epic, Everytime I play it I think of Lt Dyke shitting the bed. Badass moment of all time is with Winters goes running before his men do and discovers 2 platoon of men. Don't know the episode name, but it was epic.

Has anyone watched the Pacific?? I want to know if its any good.

I agree. Both were good. But after watching the Pacific I had a better understanding of how hard the war was on those marines. Also As you said, visually pleasing. All in all, both great series own both box sets. I usually watch them with my grandfather around this time of year.

Band of Brothers hands down in my opinion. Enjoyed every episode, was saddened when someone important was killed in combat, and thought what it would be like to be in their shoes. Still watch it today and love it the 5th or 6th time through.

I think what bothered me the most about the Pacific was the characters story arcs. i found them to be diffcult to follow, whereas like someone said, BoB did a great job of connecting the veiwer to the characters. whenever someone died, especially one of the Tocoa men, it was heartbreaking. Like someone else said though too, i thought the pacific does a better job showing how hard the war was for those marines (with the exception of what the 101st went through in the Battle of the Bulge) and the costs and effects war has on the body and mind.

The Pacific. Everybody likes riding a couch and watching Americans kick Nazi ass repetitively, but no one likes the introspection on the less obvious price those men had to pay to do such asskicking. I guess the lines are little more blurred (Bigger gray area if you will) in the pacific between friend and foe, i.e. booby trapped civilians etc, which allows it to be more relatable to me. Plus I was a Marine, so naturally I'd choose it.

I'd also like to add in that there is a bit of misrepresentation on BoB. In the Ardennes forest it's not no one got left behind, many got left behind. My Friends great Uncle was in the 101st when he got hit in the gut and the only reason they didn't leave him behind is because he pulled his rifle on them and told his men "Your not leaving me out here." Fun Fact.
