Yamagata 1st MRB Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 I know it's a children's show and the humor is oriented to make kids laugh, but the jokes are so dry, and the facial expressions make it worse... Is that how kids act today? Quote

Kirkendall 1st MRB Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 When Disney paid $4 billion dollars for Lucasfilms, LucasArts, etc. they pretty much can do whenever they want with it. If they use Star Wars in shitty kids shows, so be it. I'm not going to watch them. And it doesn't throw a shadow to what Lucas already puked out of the Star Wars franchise. All in the hopes that Disney realizes the success from pulling another Marvel on this. If they fail, then you'll hear me bitch. But I will remain cautiously optimistic. Quote
Arsenault 1st MRB Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 All I have to say about that is watch the latest South Park episode about that (Season 16, Episode 14, "Obama Wins!"). Quote
Magoo Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 All I want is the original original original original Star Wars on DVD. Lucas is said to have destroyed the original film reels when he incorporated THX. I could deal with having the original THX version on DVD too. I hate it that the only versions sold are the re-releases where he fucked up certain scenes. Quote
Takel 1st MRB Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 Bah, George Lucas keeping it would have been just as bad. I think they need to do seperate movies following some of those books if they do anything. marvel style would be good. something a bit like republic commando (I loved that game, Sev rocks) Quote
Quarterman 1st MRB Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 Star wars blows imo! Your dead to me =[! Quote

Kirkendall 1st MRB Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 You may very well get that wish Kirk! YES They plan on going Marvel on it! My faith has been slightly, albeit tentatively, restored! Because they plan on spamming movies doesn't necessarily mean it's taking it "Marvel" style. By Marvel style, I mean investing their hopes and dreams into directors, writers, and actors who all are enthusiastic about the content. By saying going Marvel, I was tying a branch to how Disney grabbed Joss Whedon to direct the Avengers. They need to pull in people who want to do well, who are part of the culture and maybe even already fans of the content. There's plenty of movies they can spam on about, and because they're going to spam it in the "Marvel formula" isn't necessarily a good thing. It could just be an expensive focus test. Of course, just because of people like me who will see it regardless, I doubt it can flop the first couple of movies out. But I also doubt the execs at Disney are blind to nerd culture and want to pull another prequel-quality trilogy from the poo-stained drawers of George Lucas. All I've got so far is Michael Arndt, which can work out really well considering. But that's just one piece to the puzzle. Quote

HOWEVER, bringing Arndt into it right away is a GREAT start. Disney certainly has the money to churn out a bunch of films on all the Star Wars characters, all written by competent and enthusiastic writers/directors, which is what I wanted to see right off the bat, as opposed to just buying up the rights so that they could commercialize right away into some shitfest of a VII that'll try to bring the kiddies in and merchandise the fuck out of it (which they will do already of course, but if it is based off of quality films by quality people then I have no problem with that). Essentially, my point is that, while way too early to tell, they are starting off with some great decisions, and so I still have hope. A new hope, if you will : P Quote
