Hey guys so I just bought plane tickets to travel to Dallas with one of my friend. A friend of him will let us stay at her place in Denton for a few days then we are planning to go to Austin and to Houston. We also wanted to go camp a few days and trekk in the national parks in the South-West (like Big Bend National Park or others like that). Any suggestions on what to do/where to go/what to see? anyone in the unit around those places?

Dallas is a cool town, i live there, but theres honestly not THAT much for tourism.

If you're into art museums you might want to check some of those out in Dallas, like the Dallas Museum of Art.

Theres also the 6th Floor museum where JFK was killed, that entire square is still just as it was in 1963 (Although dont believe their bullshit about a lone gunman). Theres a Holocaust museum in the same general area if you've never been to one of those before. they bum me out but the one in dallas is pretty good.

We've also got a cool aquarium and a pretty neat zoo, the dallas aquarium and the dallas zoo. If you're into nature theres also the botanical gardens, not sure how great they are this time of year but my sister got married there and it was absolutely beautiful.

Other than that man i can't really think of much else thats cool around here. I live in a pretty big suburb north of dallas. i might look around and see whats going on in the city when you get over here, maybe a cool concert you could be in to?

Austin is just a cool city in general, stay in a hotel downtown and just check the place out. There is ALOT of really cool stuff right around the UT campus.

Be safe in Houston, its very confusing, massive highways and its pretty dangerous is some parts. Be careful if you find yourself in the area around the University of Houston campus.

Btw, are you planning on flying to all of these places? or Renting a car or taking a bus or what?

Thanks for the advices Zorba! Actually we are arriving to Dallas by plane but we are going to have either our host's car or take Megabus tickets (I saw they are some tickets at 1$ to travel like 3 or 4 hours). I don't know about the shows but we were planning to go see some NBA basketball.

Yeah either the Mavs or Rockets would be a good call, depending on whos in town when you are. Eithe rhome team will probably lose :P but they are still cool events!

The only reason i ask about driving is you cant underestimate how large this state is. Its 3 hours from Dallas to Austin, about an hour from Austin to Houston, and about 4 Hours from Houstin To Dallas. And thats all in central to eastern Texas, so making it out to Big Bend is gonna be quite a journey. I just google maps'd it, and its 10 hours from Dallas to Big Bend o.O Its about the same from Houston, and its about 7 hours from Austin.

If you don't want to make that drive, you could always check out San Antonio. THAT has some cool culture. Could go see (whats left of it anyway) the Alamo, big part of Texas history there, also theres the Riverwalk which is oine of the coolest places in Texas. AND if you wanted to see the home team actually WIN an NBA game, you could see the Spurs while you're down there. San An is about an hour and a half South of Austin, so its not too bad.

Side note: The hill country in Austin is absolutely beautiful. Try to make a stop by Lake Travis, the way in and our is pretty awesome. Me and my girlfriend drove around smoking for like 2 hours just checking out the hill country.

Allright I took good note of that. And yeah I knew it was 10 hours from Dallas to Big Bend and I was wondering if there were any parks of the kind closer but you kinda answered that with the San Antonio advice. Thanks a lot man. And sorry Bryant and Richards but both your requests are gonna be for a next trip lol.

I mean nothing else in Texas is really comparable to Big Bend. Its really something else, but its quite a trip out there. Might not really be worth it

Man zorba i've been around the hills in Austin yesterday and it was incredible! I did the green belt and Barton creek national park and i got really impressed! Thanks for the advice! Im in San Antonio right now untill wednesday when i'll head back to Dallas untill i leave saturday morning. Thanks too for the San An tip, its a really nice city, I just came back from the Alamo and did a bit of the riverwalk too. I've spent 2 days in Houston going to the Nasa Museum and then Kehma in Galveston but as you said, it's a city a bit too huge with some pretty dangerous places. I higly prefer Austin and its 6th street and its parks :P

Glad you are enjoying my home state. I am in Fort Worth now myself, but grew up in Austin and lived in Houston for 5 years.

There is definitely something to see in every city and tons of history here.

Austin is a beautiful town, crowded as hell, but everyone wants to live where it's pretty right?

If so, who? If none, how did you learn about us: I found you guys from a website called disboard when looking for HLL milsim groups to join.   This unit offers more than just a place to play games with each other, do you have any online skills you think would be useful? no   Do you have any Leadership experience that you think will be helpful? I'm not sure if it will be helpfull, but I used to be in BFV milsim groups and in my last one I got to [E-7] out of [E-1] to [O-8], so I was a NCO and I helped the officers with whatever they needed doing, weather it was assisting with training, settling disputes or helping them decide what was appropriate disciplinary action. And when we were in combat I was usually assigned to lead my own squad.   Have you ever been in a realism unit before, and if so, which unit was it? yes. I was in quite a few BFV milsim groups, although I was only in one at any given time. unfortunately, I have left the discord servers and I do not remember the names of them. if you would like, I could probably give a reference to someone who was an officer in most of the groups I was in.   By posting this Enlistment form, I acknowledge the instructions completely, declare that I am 16 years old or older, and agree that I have and will follow server and unit rules maturely and respectfully or face immediate rejection.
