Well, the dog died today, she was old and in a lot of pain as she died in my arms. :(

Rest in Peace

Sorry to hear, a pet is family to many.

We had to let our Newf go a couple weeks ago, was having heart failure, he would have been 3 years old this Dec.28th. Always a hard thing to do to let them go, but better then letting them suffer in pain.

Theres a poem that we share with friends and family when a pet is lost:

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... "

So sorry to hear mate. I lost my cat a few months ago, fucking tore my heart out.

What helped me though was thinking certain good thoughts, such as how you gave that dog a fantastic life. It was loved, it was fed, it had fun everyday, it had few worries...it lived a better life than, most likely, any human ever will, and it was because of you. YOU made that dog's life good.

Also, she died in your arms, with the one she loved. They say that everyone dies alone; I'm not sure I buy it. The last thing that your dog saw was the one thing she wanted to see more than anything.

Instead of mourning your loss, celebrate the fact that you were able to give her love and companionship. Whether there is a God or not, whether dogs go to heaven or not...doesn't matter. You gave her a life that no one can ever take away, and she gave you the memory of all the fun times you two had that will never leave you.

I am sorry for your loss, but am grateful that you did the greatest possible thing any creature can do for another, and that is bring joy and happiness to them. Can we see pictures of her?
