At my house, you take your shoes off at the door, my dad is Japanese so that's just how I was raised. I feel weird wearing shoes in the houses of people that do not have you take your shoes off. At the house I live in for school, they do not ask you to take off your shoes, but I always take them off in my room.

I grew up with my Grandparents and my Grandfather always taught me that if you keep your shoes on in the house you are showing that you dont care for the cleanliness of the person's house and you are being disrespectful. As an Italian man who's father was straight off the boat from Italy he always taught me to respect people's things better than my own. So ive never really liked wearing shoes in the house, its dirty and disrespectful.

I do but only because the house usually gets swept and mopped once a day due to the dogs being in and out all the time. Then again my floors are all hardwood, only carpets are throw carpets which can be washed or put out on the line to air.

So yea I do wear shoes in the house, not all the time, but if I know I'm going out again shorlty I just keep them on.

you mean, the socks used to be there but they evaporated because of your manky feet?

i wear shoes in my own home and don't really take them off till i'm settled and don't need to put them on again for a while. I do ask when entering other people's houses though

Well, it really depends.... In general I take my shoes off when I go inside. I even like to take them off at work when I'm sat at my desk.

However, sometimes in the morning I find I've gone out of the house in a hurry and forgotten something; when I go back in to get it there is no way am I taking off my shoes (and you can't make me!).

It depends on what the occasion is and where I am at and if my shoes are dirty. A lot of my family doesnt care if you wear shoes on their carpet if you have reasonably clean shoes and if you are going in and out all day there is not real point on taking them off...but usually i take my shoes off at the door if im just coming home to do nothing.

See, it really depends. I usually wear boots for work, those I take off (muddy, nasty, and shit), but I either have my street shoes or house shoes on. I live in the country and have to walk through a workshop to get into the house from my room. If I were in a different situation then I wouldn't wear them in the house.

my moms korean, shoes off at the door, some of the chinese families wouldn't even let the shoes into the apartment and kept them on racks in the stairwell

I remember seeing movies of American kids wearing their shoes while on their bed. That's just gross. ;)
