Star trek predates Star Wars- And has more advanced technologies.

However-

Star Wars has a more complete listing of all races species, and cultures- while Star Trek was supposed to be based on that.

I do understand and know Star Trek has a very easy small list of alien races-

I think they are equal, and very different

Definitely made by someone who doesn't understand Star Wars. Especially since numerous beam-ons in Star Trek were stopped by an opponent ship's shields being up. Which Star Destroyers have ample of. Those two little balls on the top of the ship do represent shield generators after all. Also, photon torpedoes were in use in Star Wars. (two destroyed the first Death Star after all) But, they're normally reserved as a heavy armament for fightercraft that cannot support a turbolaser battery. Turbolasers, which can easily dwarf the power of a photon torpedo in heat generation, are usually represented by dozens of heavy stations, and hundreds of light stations on a standard Kuat Drive Yards Star Destroyer. Not to mention phasers are typically rated just as effective against shields (and less so against armor) and only represented by a handful of stations on a ship equal size to the Enterprise.

In a war between the Federation and the Empire, the Federation would be annihilated. Heavy language sure, but to paraphrase Captain Picard, "The Federation has over 150 planets in its control spread across 8000 light years." The Empire encompasses an entire galaxy. For scale, the Milky Way represents 100,000 - 120,000 light-years with 200-400 billion stars. Is every planet under the Empire's direct control? No, that would be ridiculous. But you can expect a definite higher number than the Federation.

Finally, LAZERs are more of a brand name than the technology laser.

Don't get me wrong, I love both series of movies, shows, and books, but militarily the Galactic Empire would decimate the Federation.
