Type of issue: Hardware/Software

Brief Description of Issue:

Hey so i recently tried updating my graphics card (Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS)

and it said I did not have the correct software or something when i was updating and now I dont have a display driver thing anymore.

Sorry i cant be more specific but i use to be able to make my screen resolution 1600 x 900 now its only 1280 x 800.

And whenever i try to re install a new driver it fails.

and whenever i try a system restore it doesnt do it correct.

Thank you

yes. What it does is it gets the part where it says downloading the graphic drivers or something then it black screens and comes back up with huge icons because of the resolution change and doesnt change back unless install an older version for my graphics driver.

the driver version i was attempting to install was the 310.90 the one my computer is currently using the the 306.23

NVIDIA has had a history of releasing faulty driver updates, and in fact, they continue to release such updates often.

When installing the driver, make sure you use the custom install option, and only install the driver itself (disable all other options).

Whether it works or not, restart your system. If it failed before the restart, try the installation once more.

If the above does not work, and you are still interested in trying, post back.
