Its out this weekend.. I might have to get it the game play looks cool. I've actually never played simcity before though, anyone know what it's like? I have watched some gameplay but I would like to know a bit more :/

They didn't test their servers before opening it to the public (alpha/beta/reviewers had limited access so the full brunt of opening day loads wasn't accurately gauged). Most people have to either wait for 30 mins for space to open, or just can't connect at all. PLUS, Maxim has tweeted responsibility for the problem, citing that EA wasn't in charge of it, but I don't believe them.

Woah, quote tower. However, The thing that pisses me off the most is that I cannot download and share anyone else's saves. Well they technically don't exists on your computer they are instead in EA's servers. I mean it is not that much of an issue but I always liked the option.

I've been playing it for five hours, no problems with Origin or the servers as of yet. 50,000 population but I cant get rid of germs, so I might just level the place until people can appease me with more positive thoughts.

It's actually pretty good; when it works it is pretty slick.

I found I could generally connect to the Antarctica server no problem, and have played merrily for hours.

A few things I really like about this game:

* The music. When you switch views, it crossfades into a different more appropriate tune for the new view, but with the same beat; so the transitions are seamless while keeping the ambiance appropriate.

* The power, water and sewage system. You get to see blobs of power, water and sewage being pumped about. The sewage sounds disgustingly squelchy.

* It is especially cool when you first start a city, and turn on the power or water for the first time... each building in turn lights up or waters up, making a satisfying click, or splash sound. The whole neighborhood turns on in an entertaining cascade. You'll want to start new cities all the time just for this!

Bit bloody expensive though!

Update:

So I've had quit a bit of fun, and built a few cities.

Only thing is now, that I simply cannot be bothered to carry on. The city sizes are so small that you quickly use up all the space

you have available, so you either have to go and make another city, or start bulldozing stuff you already have.

I might just go and play SimCity 4 instead.
