WATCH THE VIDEO

Last night, the Dodgers and Padres closed up their series in San Diego... But not before a benches-clearing melee ended in several ejections and a broken left collarbone for Grienke.

Now, anyone who knows ANYTHING about baseball knows: A guy isn't trying to HIT THE BATTER on a 3-2 count in a 1-run game... It's not baseball "smart". But how does Carlos Quentin see it? Well, he sees red, apparently.

What an EMBARRASSING display by the Padres' outfielder. Players ON the Padres came up to Dodger players after the game and apologized for Quentin's behavior!

I love how Quinten says after the game that " Grinke and I have a history." Yeah so that is why I broke his fucking left collar. I mean I have never seen someone lunge like that in a baseball fight. What an asshole. However, I think Grinke was just trying to pitch him inside and tie Quinten up and he just lost focus or something. I totally agree with Don Mattingly: Quinten shouldn't play untill Grinkie returns.

That was the third or fourth tim Grienke has hit Quinten, and it's not as if he had the intention to break Grienke's collar bone. Also when Quinten took a few steps Grienke said something that he shouldn't have said. Furthermore what kind of idiot lowers a shoulder to a guy twice your size. P.S. This don't play till the guy comes back shit couldn't work.

Grienke shouldn't have dropped his shoulder, but it happened pretty quick. AJ Ellis didn't even have time to get between them. I can't second-guess what Zack did because I'm not Zack. If you watch the video again, Ellis sets up for the pitch on the OUTSIDE part of the plate. Grienke already had a wild pitch and a few walks... He missed his spot in a NON-PLUNKING situation, and Quentin still took in personally. The last time Grienke hit Quentin, it was a similar situation: He already had 2 strikes on the hitter, and missed his spot. I mean, if you're going to hit a guy, you're not going to waste 5 pitches before you do it. You hit him high and hard with the FIRST pitch!

No, Greinke didnt hit him intentionally. But he did said something that looked to be along the lines of "What're you gonna do?" after Quentin took a couple steps towards the mound. Was it really smart to antagonize a guy who you just hit with a 90 MPH fastball and has 50 lbs on you? No, no sir. Im not excusing Quentin, im just saying there's two sides to every fight. I think Quentin was and is being a little bitch about getting hit, especially because from what people are saying he gets hit all the time. Suck it up, it wasn't intentional. This "we got beef" thing is just so that he doesnt look like a COMPLETE jackass.

Greinke was believed to have SAID something that sparked Quentin's charge... Slow-mo footage reveals that he also made a face at Carlos prior to the melee:

Ye ye ye ye ye, ye ye ye, ye ye yeh... HAHAHAHAHA!

For all you young'uns out there that don't remember the greatest pitcher charge ever known to man, its important to remember this one. In 1993, during 46 year old Nolan Ryan's final year as a pitcher, he hit 26 year old Robin Ventura with a pitch. Now, at 46 years of age, Nolan Ryan still threw 100mph fastballs. During his final game where he tore a ligament in his pitching arm, he threw a pitch with the torn ligament. It measured 98mph. With a torn fucking ligament. Next time you give yourself a papercut, fucking nut up. Well, Robin Venture figured he'd take the old man down. This is what happened:

Mr. Ryan put Robin in a headlock, and repeatedly punched this shit out of him. This picture is the most purchased autographed sports poster ever.

Here's the video.

In reference to Nolan Ryan's fight, he was definitely a badass for it. Unfortunately, it seems to be what he is loved for the most by Dallas sports fan, which i find sad. I dont know if this is the view of everyone in Dallas or even the majority, but i've heard several people and several people in the sports media industry talk about how that incident is the sole reason why he is forever a rangers legend. Personally, i find that sad. And i see that attitude reflected in Rangers fans, all around the city, especially at ball games. I can't tell you how many Red Sox games i've been to where Rangers fans started fights with Red Sox fans. And then i've been to Fenway Park at a YANKEES GAME and while there is plenty of shit talking, the two sides sit intermingled through their hatred to watch their teams play.
