I'm a bit puzzled with Theon though, I don't remember him really escaping until book what, 4-5? Also, Jaime doesn't get his hand cut off by Northmen, but by the Mountain's men that are employed by Roose Bolton methinks.

Yeah, but in the TV show the people who take Jaime in are clearly men at arms under a knight or nobleman. Whereas in the book it's different.

I seem to remember in the books that Theon was let out at some points because the Bastard of Bolton wanted to hunt him. Although it was only ever referenced to later on. But, I think they are showing his transformation and changes now because reintroducing him later on, people won't remember who he is.

Do you think his "Hero" could be the Bastard? None of what's happening to Theon seemed to be in the books.

I also like that they're changing some things for the book. It makes it more interesting than to know exactly what's going to happen.

Yeah, I think the guy with the bow was the bastard or it doesn't make any sense. I'll have to reread the books. I can't wait for the awesomeness that will happen in Astapor :D

And yes, I love that they gave a bunch of new dialogue to Tywin for example, both with Jaime and Arya. Also, MOTHERFUCKING CIARAN HINDS plays Mance Rayder!!#@?!# Hell yeah. (He was playing Ceasar in Rome)

I'm unable to watch the 3rd Season until it comes out for sale, but I have the suspicion that this where we start to see it diverge from the books a little bit due to the TV audience.

Realistically, HBO cannot just drop a bunch of these characters that the audience has been following and then bring them back because thats how it was in the books because then everyone is going to say: "Where the hell is Jon Snow?" Or "What happenned to Theon, Tyrion, Daenerys, and Davos?". So they'll probably fuse Storm of Swords, Feast for Crows, and Dance with Dragons all togather in order to avoid that, and perhaps delve into a few areas that are more inferred in the books.

I'm a big fan of the TV Series though, its hands down the best book-to-film transition I've ever seen, and although I can pick out every area that they changed, omitted(which surprised me since its HBO), or added, I understand why they made those changes and they aren't useless. Best show on Television IMO, and one of the best Fantasy series out there.

George R.R. Martin, who oversees most of the script writing in the show, has stated numerous times in interviews that there will be changes from the books to the TV show, which he welcomes because the books are books and the TV show is the TV show.

Also, Robb Stark is a boss.

I was so happy they didn't cut Meera and Jojen Reed, since Bran's arc would have been much less interesting without them. Can't wait for Coldhands though :D

Oh yeah, Coldhands should be cool, but one thing has been bugging me though since I've started watching Season 2. Why did they change Asha's name to Yara? Thats one change that irks me as unnecessary. Did they think it sounded too much like Osha in the accents they are using? lol.

That's actually the reasoning exactly. They knew the viewership would have difficultly separating the names. It's similar to how they are showing Theon's story so he doesn't just show up again in 2 books worth of seasons. A lot of people wouldn't remember who he is, so they are showing his path to becoming Reek.

Yeah. Oh god, I so wonder who they will pick to play Oberyn Martell and the rest of the Martell crew. Easily my favourite Westeros family.

Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken.

There are SO MANY NAMES... That was my reasoning for dropping out of the book series early on. I'm glad I got back into it, I just want one of those bookmarks like in War & Peace with the list of all the characters and who they are, places of importance, and a simple glossary of important things like religions and such...

I will say, reading the books do help keep up with all the characters in the show though.

Bow guy is the bastard, IMDB has him listed as such. I thought the credits song clashed so sharply with the episode, really didn't like that at all. Also, not to bothered by Barristan the Bold revealing his identity early on, because everybody knew he was Whitebeard anyway. Pretty bothered by the lack of a beard on Edmure Tully, and his whole dynamic with Brynden. That's not how I imagined that family. Seeing Jojen and Meera just made me want to know more about Howland, which just makes me more irked that Martin takes so long to write his books. It's like he doesn't have a narrative arc in mind and is just going with the flow.

God I wish I could find the interview of GRRM on youtube, but he stated that when he first started writing the books he knew three things.

-First, he knew that the details of when the Starks found the direwolves, the details of a "Summer Snow" was very important.

-Two, he knew exactly how the ending of the whole books series will be.

-Thee, filling out the space between the start and finish is the most difficult thing for him, because stated before, he knows exactly how everything will end, he just finds it difficult to put the puzzle together.

And on a side note, he told the creators of GoTs that in an unseen event that George passes away before he finishes the novels, he told them how it is going to end.
