I will never understand why someone would go to the end of the world to ruin someones life.

And I don't understand why you are already implying that they come from the other end of the World. I don't want to get in an argument about that but the person who did that might well aswell be american(s).

I think you misunderstood me. I am not blaming the other side of the world I was merely stating a fact that some people will go to extreme lengths to do something horrible. Please dont jump the gun because you read something wrong.

From Patton Oswalt's FB:

Boston. Fucking horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

I really hope that no one in the unit was there. I have family that are there right now. One of my aunts is in the hospital. No deaths. Im just. Really, frankly sick of the shit that goes on in our world. I really hope everyone is okay out there and I cant imagine the reason behind this..Is no place safe anymore?

This case is lightning fresh right now, so what are the initial impressions you guys are getting from this?

For those who don't have access to any form of media that isn't talking about this, basically a couple of bombs went off at the ground level of a Hotel near the finish line of the Boston Marathon and has left at least 2 people dead and over a 100 injured at least. An incendiary bomb at the JFK Library also went off, but it hasn't been linked to the other bombing yet.

I personally don't think its your conventional Terrorist attack, since I don't see what effect could be gained from it other than Terror, but then there could have been more effective ways of doing it and much better places to blow up that would make a bigger reaction, cause more casualties and cause even more terror than where the bombs were placed. Its also been said that the bombs were set up via a cellphone meaning that this wasn't a suicide bombing either, somebody inflitrated the city and placed this bomb before putting as much shoe leather between themselves and it before casually detonating it somewhere else in the city.

That's my thoughts on it right now. What about you guys?

I think that I and 100s of other people. have family in the hospital and couldnt really give a shit about why it happened to be frank. Im not sure why everyone when something like this happens they ask about why or who. Why not ask is there anything we can do to help the people that are there or just let this kind of shit settle for a little. Conversations / arguments that come from disaster make me more angry than the damn disaster some times.

If I had been there, I would have been right there helping those people in what ever way I could. Yes, we need to find out who did this but at the same time we need to get this under control and assist the people who have been injured with the care they need. This bombing was meant to cause panic and looking at the many comments I have read online and from talking to people it has seemed as though the culprit(s) has/have succeeded. You want to fight against the assholes who did this, keep your head on a damn swivel and be aware of your surroundings. Just my 2 cents. I know it has been over said by many but my prayers are with the families effected.

From George Takei:

When tragedies strike, heroes rise to meet the challenge: the first responders seen sprinting toward the blast site, the runners who changed course to run to local hospitals to donate blood, and the fine citizens of Boston who at once opened their homes to marathoners in need of a place to stay. When we come together, we cannot be brought down.

Allow me to respectfully disagree. Knowing why something happened is very important if you want to prevent it from reoccurring as much as possible in the future. Nonetheless, it's also very important to give support to the victims as we hunt the motherfucker(s) responsible. I'm really hoping it was a lone crazy and not something more organized as this could get very ugly (And it already is). A lot of compatriots (Quebeckers) were running the marathon and I'm also hoping they're alright.

That said I heard they have a suspect under guard at the hospital.

Wow this is terrifying.

And yes Engle I think you are right, I jumped a bit too fast on the conclusions about what you said. I didn't mean to "jump the gun" on you either. I just thought that you were saying only a few minutes after it happened that those actions were done by people from far away from America, which I felt a bit unfair for that "other side of the World" that I understood. Blame it on me being a fucking frenchie :P. I read in the other post about this topic that you have family in Boston. I hope that they are all safe.
