Name: Armstrong

Rank: Cpl.

Type of issue: Hardware

Brief Description of Issue:

This isn't really a technical issue so much as it is that I'm looking for a new gaming PC that can take a lot of higher end games and play them on their decent settings of right now and that are going to be coming out like Witcher 2 & 3, Rome Total War 2, Empire Total War, even Metro 2033. My current PC can run Metro and Empire on alright settings, but both experience lag fairly easily, and Witcher 2 I'm playing on basically low quality settings and the animations are still so lagged that the voices won't even match with the mouth movements along with all other sounds.

Seeing as this area of the Forums is the last word in computer knowledge, I was wondering what you guys would suggest for a new gaming PC that could handle these games on at least decent settings without any hitches.

Personally I like having portability for my gaming so I recommend MSI laptops I use a new toshiba while it does play very well it was more for the price for me there. PC desktop I would build your own being there you control everything and know what goes where, prefab Ibuypower PCs are not bad but you run into things like what happened to AlienWare (Dell) type parts

Without a budget it's hard to answer this. An entry level gaming PC can be put together for maybe $700 (depending on how bad you define entry level gaming), a top of the line gaming PC can cost as much as you want to spend.... You can spend $1k on just a case if you see fit.

To design a system you're going to need to come up with a budget and then make decisions on some trade offs if all the best stuff isn't in your budget.

I'm not sure about building my own computer, since I've never attempted it and I don't have a huge amount of knowledge on where to get all the parts in my area. As for a budget, I'm not sure. I wouldn't really be up to spending more than 1k, so that would be the ceiling of what I would possibly be willing to spend as for a minimum amount, I'd probably be able to spend close to 500-600 at least.

I don't think further assistance will be required at this time, sorry for the late post. I'm currently saving up money to have my own computer built, and if I need help in terms of suggestions for what to buy in terms of parts, I'll take up Gothe's offer of assistance or that of any of the other 1st MRB members.
