That's hilarious Lafy. I wonder where the sign is located. By the way, a lot of people distrust Poles in Europe, at least that's what people told me when I was over there. Something about every object lost eventually finding it's way to Poland.

I do believe this is in England , we have a big problem with east european's (poles ukraine's blah blah) fishing , Instead of put the fish back after catching them as you're supposed to do they take them home and eat them.

So yes this sign is justified.

Small is right on the money here. It's illegal to kill any fish caught in almost all freshwater locations and a lot eastern Europeans don't know this. (Worst still some are aware and operate illegal poaching gangs.) Large fish which take years to grow are being killed much to the displeasure of anglers.

I imagine it's a private location as well, they can set whatever rules they like.

It's really easy to fish a lake barren, it just takes catching too many of one sex and the fish die out. It's not uncommon to enforce "Catch-and-Release" only for a certain amount of time to allow the fish to repopulate. I go fishing every year at a reservoir in California, it used to be you could keep every fish you catch, then it changed to 5 per person, then 3, then one year they had a enforced "Catch-and-Release" only for a few months until they could restock the reservoir. Now they have to restock every 6 months since it has become such a popular fishing location.

Indeed , I'm quite a avid fisherman , but I really do agreed with the catch and release , If you wish to keep what you catch go sea fishing.

I go flyfishing each year and absolutely love it. I also see no reason whatsoever to keep what I catch and am strictly catch and release, provided the fish isn't seriously harmed.

I see it as a sort of Karma: I want to continue fishing in the same waterways and continue catching fish all day, so I should ensure that I leave it in the same condition it was in when I arrived. Each fish I keep is one less I can catch the following day.
