So I was looking for other games to play and I came across an interesting game called Heroes and Generals

A short download later and Im playing a pretty awesome game

Go check it out if you have some time. It uses your browser so the download time is nothing and the game plays beautifully

It reminds me of planetside with a bit of rts if you play as a general and move stuff around Europe.

Each city, village, and town in Europe is a map that can be played in a fully realtime persistant game.

Download is about 1.2 gigs. Not hefty, but not a light download either especially considering some interwebs. Luckily in Iowa we grow our internet with natural corn.

I don't know what Heroes and Generals game you were playing, but it doesn't sound like the one you linked. The one I played from that link had a "World of Tanks" style matchmaking system and overall profile setup. Except contrary to World of Tanks, the matchmaking decides to lump American players into European servers where the connection at best can be a "red bar." Enticing. Aside from the lag, I'm not sure where the RTS elements come into play. It's pretty much a battlefield game. But again contrary to a Battlefield game, the bullet physics don't make sense. I tested by shooting my Garand into a wall, and the bullet spread I got was about as logical as no-scoping an AWP in Counterstrike: Source.

I realize this was a beta but I was so unimpressed I uninstalled after giving it about an hour and a half of play. And that's time for true play, not install or setup. The best time I had playing was when I realized they used the Garand iron-sight as a gimmick and if you shoot DoD style you'll have more success. I've played a lot of betas, and have a number still installed. But that was a painful game to play.

As a last point, any game that gives the middle finger to people playing left-handed automatically gets a downvote from me, so it takes a lot to get back in the good graces. Oh, you want to bind Enter to something other than chat? NOPE! HOPE YOU LIKE TYPING WHILE TRYING TO SPRINT! Oh, you think you can solve that problem by binding sprint to \? That would make sense, it is the key right above Enter, so it might be pretty easy to hit. Oh wait, I forgot to tell you! WE PUT AN ENTIRELY USELESS CONSOLE FEATURE THERE JUST TO FLOOD YOUR SCREEN IF YOU HIT \!

Dang the captain really put it out there. Nothing against Barry but, the game in my eyes dose not look so bad at first. But it kind of got me when it said it was free. I realize that in the world we live in nothing is free truly. So what would happen probably load your computer down with advertizements out of the ass and limited game play that only allows you to play so much and you end up only having so much to choose from. Only to find out that you have to pay 19.99 with your credit card to get the full version of the game. But what can you expect from a game that is free to download right.
