Hello there,

Excuse me if this is not the appropriate place to post this, but I cannot post this complaint anywhere else at the moment.

I've been playing DOD for around seven or eight years now and have played on plenty of servers with many different players. What's I've come to appreciate on servers are admins who take claims of their community seriously and will maintain order in their servers. For example, tonight, I was revenged TKed--in spawn, by a player known as J.U.G.G.E.R.N.A.U.T. As you can see in the attached picture (circled in green), we were engaged in a firefight when I accidentally TKed him with a bazooka and subsequently killed by an enemy grenade. Now, as soon as I spawned, I was revenged TKed by J.U.G.G.E.R.N.A.U.T (circled in red). As you can see, he hit me twice with his fists not seconds after our previous deaths (an indication of us just spawning). Thus, you can see, he revenged TKed my in spawn with his fists.

Now, that's one problem in and of itself. And I was sincerely hoping a present admin could take care of the issue. I asked if there was an admin on, at which point, one of your admins, Bluzooka, asks what the problem is. I told him what had happened, to which he basically told me to stop making trouble. It went something like, "I see you both have negative scores, so stop TKing each other. I'm warning you both." (Keep in mind, this is at the start of the map.)

I pleaded for him to just check the console. All I was met with was something to the tune of "you're both being watched so knock it off."

Nothing was done about anything. I was told to come here and while it doesn't solve the problem I had with the player who TKed me (I missed his SteamID), perhaps it may solve the problem I was having with the admin in question.

I try my best to be a good pubber. I don't cause trouble. I follow rules. I apologize when I accidentally TK my teammates. It happens. But when stuff like this goes down, and there is an admin on the server, it should be taken care of. Or at least, the admin should look at the evidence (i.e. the console log of kills that I had asked Bluzooka to look at) so that your players feel a sense of order and justice on your server.

That's all I got. I really do like playing on your server. But after tonight, if this was indicative of how your admins operate, then I don't see myself playing here anymore unless something is done about the people in question.

Thank you,

Console Log of TK

While I am sorry that you had a bad experience in our server today, I hardly see reason to "deal" with Bluzooka for misinterpreting the series of events. If Bluzooka had been spectating every interaction between every single player in the server and then blatantly refused to help your case outright, then I would understand your complaint. However, I'm fairly sure that he was probably playing on the server himself and missed the action between you and the revenge TKer.

Looking at the console alone tells us two things, you both TK'd eachother and you were the only one to say sorry. Your image of the console log doesn't even show him refusing to help, as he replies "What's the matter?" then that's the end of the image. His decision to keep an eye on two team-killers was definitely not refusing to help. You've brought attention to someone breaking the rules, now they are being watched. As far as I can tell, with the information he had, the most he could have done would have been to kick the revenge team-killer. I'm sorry that didn't happen, but we aren't perfect.

Of course he could have taken the time to start questioning other players, reviewing the console and playing detective to find and enforce exactly what was needed. However, that sort of administrating disrupts gameplay. It's better to resolve the problem the moment it happens with a quick reaction, turning the server into a crime-scene and courtroom ruins the gaming environment and the conflict that it causes scares away more players than the "courtroom" server would bring.

If I am expected to enforce some sort of punishment, it would be on the revenge team-killer that you've reported, which I would be happy to do for you.

What exactly do you expect me to do to Bluzooka? Take away his admin privileges because of one moment of misjudgment? A regular on our server for at least two years and an admin for at least half of that, suddenly disowned because a player with less than a month's presence dictates it? Especially with the issue being one single act of revenge team killing. You can imagine my apprehension...

In my mind, pointing out his mistake does all you need, now he knows that he made a mistake at that time and will probably strive to pay more attention to future problems. We are trying to prevent that kind of courtroom situation where admins are permanently banning minor offenses left and right, Bluzooka's restraint was commendable, not punish-worthy. If that means we lose your patronage, then that's unfortunate and we wish you the best in finding the server that best suits your need for justice.

Regards,

Lt. Col. Yamagata

Thank you for the detailed response. As long as it is brought to attention and maybe makes an admin or two more keen on being a helping hand on the servers, that's all I need.
