Yeah, thats an absolutely terrible deal for the Islanders. Moulson is a good player making about half of what Vanek makes AND they lose a first and second round pick. Thats rough.

Yup, that kind of a move just reminds me of Mike Milbury, who was easily the worst GM in hockey. I guess the Isles just never learn =/

Sadly, I think that you're quite possibly right. At least until the Habs get a bonafide 1st line like the JVR/Kessel/whoever they throw in as centre.

Of late, montreal has had a plethora of top... 2/3rd liners. Although our defense is far more advanced than the leafs. But Subban's extension and Markov's UFA might change all that.

Although that Glachenyuk kid is something to watch. Even Gallagher... might be an eventual St. Louis with Gally playing the role of Stamkos. Crossing fingers.

But glad to see that Reimer is finding his groove now that he has Bernier to push him. Unlike Edmonton. Wonder if MacT is = going to throw some ridiculous deal for Reimer/Bernier.

If it weren't for Reimer it could have easily been 8-0 for Vancouver last night. He made some ridiculous saves at the start of the game.

Who knew Kadri moonlights as a recruiter?

Should be surprised if Kadri doesn't come out of it with at least a 2 game suspension, hopefully more. Even if he's not a repeat offender, he repeatedly offended in the same game.

I'm sure Engle thinks 10 is the new 2.

I was hoping for at least 5. The thing that irks me is reading all the Leaf supporters thinking those were not suspendable hits. If it was the other way around I guarantee you they would be asking for blood not a suspension.

Its the same way for most teams. The uneducated come out and defend their player despite the overwhelming evidence against it.

Anyways, 3 games was a game shy of what I expected. I also thought that Shanahan should have reviewed the hit by Kadri later in the game, which made incidental contact with the head. Combined, I would have said 5 games (knowing how the Wheel of Punishment works).

I was surprised that it came to only 3.

For a number of evident reasons (from the videos) I would like to think that Kadri didn't *intentionally* target the head, but rather was just a really horribly annoying "opportunist" who saw a chance to run a goalie and put on an easy, but very dangerous, hit.

Both showed extremely poor judgement on his part given the chance to seriously hurt one or the other. If the NHL is going to crack down on hits to the head, intentional or not, then he should have gotten at least 5 games.

Especially given the number of unlucky accidents to key players already (Stamkos, Ward, Hall, Quick, Getzlaf, Rinne, Vanek, Nash, now backstrom).

Although, I'm glad to see Harding given a chance cement his role as new #1 after being pretty much written off following his fight with MS.
