Resolved - Borderlands 2 Co-op error

Brief Description of Issue:

My roomate just got Borderlands 2 Game of the Year edition and we are trying to play in co-op but we keep getting an error message telling us that we are playing a different patch version of the game. This seems like a pretty common issue. My game is the stock game with no DLC so we suppose that it's the reason. Now, I want to play with my friend without having to buy all the DLC, a season pass or the GOTY edition. Is there any way to do that? Thanks.

Nevermind guys, we resolved it.

In my steam library :

Right clicked on Borderlands 2 > Properties > Local files > "Verify integrity of game cache"

My roomate did the same thing and then it worked.
