I haven't been on WoW since early last expansion then quickly unsubscribed again due to the game just being incredibly boring. I just found this announcement via Facebook, and I think that I may actually get back into the game due to this. What do you guys think?

My biggest question is, how will you be able to even build buildings? Like, will it require you to grind for hours to get extra gold? Or is it something different? I saw on the screenshots that there is some sort of green dot or jewel as the garrison currency. Will the NPC's be collecting this currency for you? I think that once all of these questions are answered, it will give me a good idea whether I should get back into WoW or not. Hmm...

I lost a friend to WoW. It must be a good game because people devote huge amounts of time to it. This building idea reminds me of Ultima Online from way back in the day.

It was incredibly addictive. When I was going through my Navy IC A school, it came out. The story goes: We got out of class at 10am on a Friday and I went to the NEX (navy walmart basically) and got it on a $10 discount. Took it to the barrics room, installed it and started playing. The next time I looked at my clock, it was 5am Monday morning. lol

The best expansion (at least I thought) was Wraith of the Lich king. The PvP sucked because Paladins were able to 1 shot you in the beginning, but I loved the Death Knight concept. I made a Tauren DK made for PVP. Full tank so I could stand up to Paladins. I just sat behind Drek in Alterac Valey and Death Gripped bitches in for a 1 shot. Haha. But, I also liked the expansion due to all of the Undead Viking themes.

Anywho, if this expansion looks good enough with this Garrison thing, I may actually start it back up. We shall see. :)

Tell me about it. It took me FOREVER to get to 60. Mainly because I was on the ship and going on deployments right after school. But christ those raids were nuts. I mainly PvP'd because the horde won about 99% of the BG's.

The day dope shit became incredibly easy to obtain, It died.

Agreed.

Sit in PVP long enough and you get epics. Roll through the LFR feature these days - get epics.

There are so many mods/addons that basically play the game for you - "SHIT ON THE FLOOR, MOVE" "STUFF FALLING ON YOU, MOVE", "DPS NOW", etc.

Our guild was alliance and in WoTLK we were top 3 on our server for most of the expansion. That said, we were also a CASUAL raiding guild, only 2 nights per week - and we were able to be top 3 on the server.

That was the big sign to me that said "this shit is too easy these days" and I quit playing after Cataclysm. It just lost it for me. Too much grinding to get to end game, only to see n00bs who don't do shit getting end-game quality gear while the raiders work their ass of for the same gear.

PvP was a fun aspect too, but they babied that up too - play enough? Get the epics. Then just wait around to roll n00bs.

I'm over my WoW days for sure - boredom makes me consider reinstalling, but then I remember they make you pay to play. Nah, too many other free games that are just as good for killing time and less filled with e-peen loving children.

I work for a school district - one of the Assist. Principals at one of the schools plays WoW, he loves it. He's kind of new to it (I think he got into it around Cataclysm, maybe WoTLK); he talks to me about it all the time. The more he talks about it the more it makes me realize "wow, they've babied this game down to almost no skills involved at all levels - so glad I quit"

Don't do it Viktor.

I griped about the loss of 50-man raids since day 1 of BC until the day I quit playing. It killed so much of the 'group' orientation of the game.

To be honest, I really didn't mind the babying due to the fact that I was always on deployment and really didn't have the time to grind for days on end to get decent gear. I definitely agree that this game should not be pay to play even after you spend $40-50 per expansion plus the $15ish per month. Right now, Blizz has only 7 million subs when they used to have over 200 some odd million around BC/WotL. Maybe they will wise up a bit on the game functions and billing. I am still going to keep my eye on it and read forums of various complaints and compliments. Who knows, maybe it will improve for once instead of spiraling down ward into the void that it is in right now.

I played Wow shortly after it went live, and stopped after Cata. I once in a great while feel like it could be fun, but like Goodwin, I definitely don't want to re subscribe, plus buy however many expansions are out now. It was always fun, but I've spent at least $1000 on this game already, and don't need to spend more.
