I have a question for members and admins of the public DOD Source server in regards to banning players.

Right now as its stands if you see a suspicious player you join spec and record a demo and then the powers that be review the demo.

After reviewing the demo it is determined weather a player is haxing or not.

I understand it really is the only fair way of determining if a player is haxing or not.

Here is the problem I have with this method.

Let’s say a player…..oh for shitz and giggles we’ll call him Bart.

Now let’s say Bart has 3 DOD Source Steam accounts.

Not Bart has been a naughty boy and has cheated on 2 or those accounts and Steam banned him and is now down to his last account.

But Bart just can’t stop haxing but only has the one account left.

Also Bart just loves playing on the 1stMRB server because he has great ping.

Bart has been playing on this server for years.

And there are several threads in the forums requesting that he be banned from the server for haxing.

Bart’s way around this is that he toggles on and off his hax.

I’ll explain…..He joins the server and launches his hax.

Once he see’s MRB or BAR members or anyone that players there often join spec he toggles off his hax.

I have played with Bart for quite some time now.

Whenever I am I his team I have follow him around various maps.

One thing is consistent…..he never misses and he always seems to know when someone’s around a corner or down an isle.

But have someone join spectator then all of a sudden Bart misses with some frequency.

Person jumps out of spec and joins the game and Bart is back to one shot one kill.

I mean I’ve even seen him one shot kill with a pistol…..funny thing is I have never seen him do this when someone is in spec.

Its quite obvious to me what he is doing but its not obvious if you join spec.

But to follow him around a map???????? Well let’s just say it starts to become quite comical.

I understand how difficult it is dealing with all of this and I have always said how I love playing in the MRB server.

I can’t find many servers where my ping is below 100..

But it’s gotten to a point where If I have to I wait in spec to join Barts team so I don’t have to go against him cause well we all know what’s going to happen next unless someone’s in spec.

Also the amount of times I have seen Barts name in your forums make me wonder why you would put up with this kind of activity.

I understand with practice players get better….but I have also found that if it smells like shit…..quite often it is shit.

Looking back on this I guess I don’t really see a question in all of this.

Sorry if it looks like I’m ranting lol

I’ll assume this has been brought to the admins attention.

The answer is 7 and a half.

Edit: On a more serious note, your ambiguous story about a person that really isn't a person but really is a person that may or may not be hacking is confusing and doesn't actually tell us anything. Not to mention your use of random paragraph breaks just hurts my head.

Yes, it's hard to catch toggling hackers, but with our policy on hacking bans we're not going to ban fishy players without proof. More often than not, they're just good players. We do have one loophole, if an admin determines that the player is disrupting server play or creating a hostile environment, a ban would an acceptable course of action. Obviously, disrupting the server is not necessarily a permanent ban-worthy offense, but that's always up to the admin's discretion.
