Resolved - How do I make plants move with the wind?

Brief Description of Issue:

I remember watching grass/plants move with the wind on the private server, is this a mod or something that can be enabled in the console? I've tried using the default config and even tried activating a few commands for static props that were turned off, but this changed nothing.

Hi Lennings. I am not sure that this is really a MSO issue but you should still use our form here to make things easier.

I believe that it is not something that you turn on, but rather it is a specific model that you should be using that is designed to move.

True, sorry about that. but I have no access to the ordnance office anymore.

One of the reasons I posted in here was because I saw the config sticky and thought this was kind of related to it.

Also thank you for reminding me about the form, next time I have an MSO issue I'll remember to use it.

Hmm, strange.. So Is the grass moving for you on the private?

Cause I've only ever used one pack for custom textures like this, and I still use it.

Here are some commands that have led me to believe that there is a way to activate this through the console:

cl_detail_max_sway "5" // Amplitude of the detail prop sway

r_decalstaticprops

r_drawdetailprops //One of these control the visibility of trash on the ground.

cl_winddir "0" // Weather effects wind direction angle

cl_windspeed "0" // Weather effects wind speed scalar

rope_wind_dist "1000" // Dont use CPU applying small wind gusts to ropes when theyre past this

r_SnowWindScale "0" // Snow.

r_eyemove

cl_wpn_sway_interp "0"

These don't have that much to do with plants moving and it could very well be like you said, some animated texture of mine.

But still there might be a command in the config for the private server that is activated and lets me view my own textures animated.

I wont join the private and check until I have someones permission to do so, a nice thing would be to have these server configs put up on here for people like me that want to adapt configs/scripts to work with the pub/private server configuration.

My thoughts on those commands are that they are designed to limit prop movement for graphics limited systems. The props/models themselves are designed to move. I don't think it is a server mod to turn this movement on and it is really based on the models each map. For instance I can see moving grass on the map dod_cherbourg near the Allies spawn in the cemetery when I host a DoD server myself. Give dod_cherbourg a try and see if you can see the grass moving.

If you want to post the map you are working on I could test it on my end if you want.

Thanks for doing some comparison!

I tried creating a server without using any custom material and the default config only.

But the grass still aint movin' , I even checked the cemetary on dod_cherbourg! Very strange.

I remember seeing it on dod_donner while doing my rifle MOS, I don't know when it stopped but I miss it.

Maybe it's something I changed in Dillons config that you kept the same, if you are using that one.

I am not using Dillon's config so maybe if you try running without it once to see if the grass starts moving again. You may want to double check your video settings as well.

Lennings, have you tried/reviewed any of the previous here?

Yes, in my last post I mentioned trying without any custom material and default config only.

Sorry for the confusion, this however shows no difference for me, and I have also checked video settings and its all on "high".

On Donner none of the plants move for me in any of the fields (Axis spawn, main field, and Allies spawn) so that is not a good example for you to confirm if plants are moving. I'm not sure if I can give you any other advice other than I think it is model/map specific. It is strange that you don't see the plants moving on dod_cherbourg when they do move for me.

So you do not see the plants move here on dod_cherbourg?

Ok, did you go to the private server or did you make your own game when you checked dod_donner?

I remember taking some course at the moment I saw it, or it might have been on a realism practice.

Anyways I was pretty sure it was on dod_donner but now I don't know.

Maybe the grass is moving on the extended version only and that's what I saw?

When it comes to dod_cherbourg, I am standing right where you are with my custom folder empty and my dayof/dod/cfg empty as well.
